¡°Well met,? Perhaps we could talk about the spear you hold?¡±
Cerina?and?Brother Ashley?watch
on cautiously as the Bard initiates a conversation, but?Tabby?feels an unusual urge. Something stirs inside her.
¡°Begone, foul creature,¡± the monk speaks dryly, eyes still closed and posture still prostate. ¡°This spear is salvation, the conduit to the divine," the monk's voice echoes through the dimly lit chamber, illuminated only by the flickering braziers
of incense and the eerie glow emanating from the well behind. Shadows dance along the walls, twisting and contorting as if mirroring the turmoil within the monk's mind. ¡°She will never steal it again.¡±
Tabby?feels drawn to the spear, almost as if it is her property by birthright. Something about it reminds her of her childhood. She¡¯s seen it before,
a long long time ago. Was the spear enchanted by her mother? Is that what was stolen? Is that why her birth parents were exiled? Was it all some great conspiracy by the ranking members of the monastery to steal her inheritance?
Meanwhile at the well,?Sweet William?sees that the illumination inside comes from a liquid light, a swirling, undulating
glow obviously of magical origin.
North?is too short to see over the edge of the well, but leaning in close to the mirror he¡¯s able to see his reflection blur and then reappear
in ancient garb as if depicting a previous incarnation. The image says, in Olman, "Command me to answer, and I shall."
The image of a long-dead Olman is superimposed over the Gnome¡¯s reflection.?
Continuing to watch the stalking Panther, Cerina ponders why it doesn¡¯t attack. She¡¯s seen similar behavior when a predator has been magically blinded and deadened. It¡¯s almost as if it knows they are there but simply cannot detect them.
