I agree Ethel. I think it should be posted if the recipe is a TNT (tried
and true) or if someone just looked it up on the web. Which there's nothing wrong with, but I think that's the vast majority of what happens. Ethel, a lot of them are tried. A lot are simply shared that others have

tried. Some just sound too good not to pass along. Some of us are just recipe/cooking addicts. It also sometimes depends on your oven temperature, especially when baking. I know that varies a lot from oven to oven. I've followed many recipes to the letter only to have them come out looking no where close to what it's supposed to. It also depends on one's tastes. If someone else makes these and they really like them, it really wouldn't mean anything to me because I don't have a sweet tooth. The point of this list is to share recipes/cooking tips etc. You'll never be at a loss for something new to try. :-) Btw, how much water did you add ? A little milk might have been better. For some reason, I'm thinking about 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla in this might be good. Another thing I've learned from baking is not to overmix the dough. It's hard not to sometimes, but it can make the product tough. I'm also wondering if maybe sifting the dry ingredients together first would have helped. Last but not least, I've long since learned when baking anything, use BUTTER, not margarine or anything else. Real butter. It just yields better results. Margarine and other substances have too much water, air and other ingredients that just don't bake well, in my opinion. I'm sure others have different results. Please don't get discouraged. That's why we're here. Niki ----- Original Message -----

From: ethel hylton [mailto:ethels-attic@...] I AM WONDERING THE RECIPES THAT PEOPLE SEND IN ARE THEY SOMEI've found that recipes can vary greatly depending upon small things like brands of products used or even regional humidity or altitude. The recipes as I was accustomed to preparing them in Colorado, for instance, don't work as well here. They burn or boil out. The recipes I post are ones that we've eaten and liked. Fran Wolfe-Johnson Keystone Heights, FL |
I love to see recipes, and when I come across one that seems interesting
I post it - have not tried all those that I deem interesting. Is it that you don't want me to post anything until after I make it? If so, that will cut down significantly what I post - but if that is what the list wants, let me know and I will comply. Caspur, Not at all. This is dailyrecipes. It's all about sharing. Some I wouldn't like, but I share because I know some would. This is a recipe list. Just because you or I haven't tried it, doesn't mean someone else hasn't. Tastes vary. Don't you dare quit sending. I personally as well as many others love reading recipes, love hearing about new food ideas and thoroughly enjoy cooking. Keep sending them in. Even if not tried. Tastes vary all across the board. Sharing is what it's all about. Your contributions are well enjoyed and I appreciate you participating. That's what it's all about. :-) Niki Your Moderator |
