Re: May 13 in RR History

May 13, 1959 The NYCTA's first R-11 subway car, 8010, which was retrofitted with SMEE-type brakes and modified to work with the newer R-16 cars, went into service on the BMT Broadway-Jamaica line. It replaced R-16 car 6494 which hit the bumper block south of Broad Street and was scrapped in February, 1958.? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
