Help with DQ-20 crossovers

New here...first post.?

I picked up a set of DQ-20 speakers to refurbish.? Woofer foams have already been replaced.

It appears that the crossovers have already had some work done to them too.? Can anyone identify what might have been replaced by the attached pics?? Does this look like a Regnar upgrade kit or some other?? Additionally, the fuses have been removed from the signal path.? Is this common?? To improve SQ?

They sound great when fed some power and a clean source.? Objective is to determine what else might need to be done to the crossovers, if anything.

Any help or advice is appreciated.?

Although I didn't get a response here Regnar did return my call.? They say it looks like these have been modded but difficult to tell what's been done by the pics alone.? I can only hope that whoever did the work knew what they were doing.? What I can say is that these sound fabulous.? I'm familiar with the Dahlquist sound signature, and love these...

Thought I'd also share pics of the refurbishment complete.? About 24 hours of total labor into these.? Project was great fun!

That is one spectacular refurb! They look showroom new Kurt!

Hello ? all.? ?I've had my DQ 20s apart.? ?These jobbies look BETTER than new, great job ? ?!! .... Jaime?

Yes, they look awesome! ?What was you painting process? And type of paint.?

This may surprise you, but ...

Clean the surface well with mineral spirits, sand/scuff with a sanding pad, clean again, heat the garage with my kerosene heater, cover the coated garage floor so as to protect from over-spray, then apply 2-3 VERY light coats with overlapping strokes.? Patience!? Let it dry (preferably overnight) before you touch the darn things!? :-)? Always overly anxious to move forward with the project which inevitably leads to fingerprints!

It's pretty incredible the quality finish that a rattle can puts out with the proper prep and technique....

I second that the paint always turns out great with minimal effort.

Nice, work!
