The sub harmonic synth may have damaged the woofer by causing it to try to reproduce frequencies below what it is capable of.
It could be a bent or misshaped voice coil or maybe the surround has torn

Woofer rotation solved my similar?problem with a Bozak B302a.? So certainly good advice.? I have DQ-20 too and never had to rotate but Bozak was probably ten years older?

Just a thought…
Unscrew the woofer, rotate it 180 degrees and reinstall.
These are old drivers and if you have some sag in the woofer this might resolve it.
It costs nothing to test it.
