Pete, I have communicated with the Woman called ?One56way in the above mentioned thread. She confirmed that Jon was still alive. This was some time ago- Sept 2022. She said :

I went through the extent of explaining why you were trying to reach him. My guess is he never responded. That was the last time I saw him. I can only say he is a very nice man however has always been a bit eccentric. That was a few years ago and his health was not great at the time. I can't believe you found me here of all places, I rarely look at the emails on Etsy. If you googled me you would have found me at either my business or Facebook. I understand the passion of wanting to connect with your guru as I too have tracked down people for different reasons. I will try again if you like, send me a note and include your phone number. Who knows maybe he is not a computer person?
After discussing the potential for contact with member(s) of this ground it was decide it best to leave him alone.
However since then his house has been sold and he was moved to a facility for better care. So the contact has sadly been lost.?
