DQM-9C Tweeters
So I rescued a sadly abused pair of DQM-9C with dented/torn dust covers, no
grill covers, and gouged cabinets. I had them in my workshop for a little
while, but they just sounded

Re: Restoring DQ-10, super muffled / distorted
Thank you for taking the time to respond.? Sadly, I did mean that the speakers make fart noises, and I'm even more ashamed to say it had nothing to do with the speakers.
I was using a hand-me-down

They have the little mid century legs. non-mirrored. I replaced one bass driver and the foam for both. All the other drivers work. All original, as far as I can tell. Sound great. $600/pr picked up

Re: Restoring DQ-10, super muffled / distorted
I don’t know what blowing raspberries sound like other than a fart like sound . Never heard a speaker do that.
Can you send an audio clip?

Re: Restoring DQ-10, super muffled / distorted
One thing - in one of the rebuild member guides, it mentions putting rope caulk behind the woofer when screwing it back into the main body.? I didn't notice any caulk when I took it out and didn't

Re: Height Placement of DQ10s
I have done a fair amount of work on this. Assuming a normally balanced system and traditional equilateral triangle layout the optimum listening axis is perpendicular to the top baffle both vertically

Height Placement of DQ10s
I have my DQ10s raised with mid-woofer/tweeter at hear level at my listening position. ?This is raised about 7” above the intended height of the DQ10s on their original stands. ?Wondering if I

Re: DQ-20i replacement tweeter?
I got some 851200's installed. I eventually biamped them off the rear surround of my rxv1300 (110x6) and ended up blowing a woofer fuse. Seemed like one woofer was kinda rattling.
When I refoamed

Re: DQ10 Tweeter Fuse?
Would the ferro fluid need removal from the Visation tweeter?? I read somewhere that was reasonable and elsewhere maybe not so much.Replacing the tweeter seems much more reasonable than redoing the

Roy, are you happy with the sound as is? If you are I would suggest leaving the tweeter in place.
That is a higher quality tweeter than the original BUT it is a difference impedance and sensitivity so

Thanks for all responses.? I am going to take back that the tweeter has not been replaced; I must have at some point (probably late 90s because of the apparent date of manufacture).? It is a SEAS
