DQ10 crossover board that is an actual circuit board
As mentioned in another post, I recently acquired another pair of DQ10. The serial numbers are missing, they are not factory mirrored and weirdly the crossover boards are actual, nicely built circuit boards but with the usual yellow caps and 80uf electrolytic. The previous owner claims to have sent the speakers back to Dahlquist maybe 15 years ago for service but is this part of an upgrade or were there some that came from the factory like this? I haven't seen it before and have seen no images of this online.
Also--just curious about other people's experience with tweeter replacement-upgrades, etc. I am currently experimenting with Dayton AMT drivers. Kind of beautiful in their own way, spacious, but not really quite right even when padded down where they need to be. I have previously used the scan speak D2010 and thought those were awesome but a little pricey. Is it true that the Visaton that looks like the original actually sounds better than the original once ferrofluid is removed? Just curious, I will probably order them and try them but just wonder if others have any opinions about them.? |

DQ 1W--seized woofer
I couldn't resist buying another DQ10 setup, this time with a DQ 1W sub and DQ LP1. Of course I didn't test any of it before purchase and not too surprisingly the DQ 1W woofer is seized. I've read about this somewhere previously--with dust cap off you can clearly see that the center pole piece is jammed up against one side. Not to mention that it looks like somebody basically tried to start a fire with this thing. So not worth trying to repair.
Just wondering then--does anyone have a Seas 33F woofer in ok shape you would part with at a reasonable cost? Or--does anyone have experience retrofitting with another woofer? It is a 13" which is a horrible size to work with though there are appear to be some subs that are at least near 12.75" OD. Could probably make it work. Not too worried about this project but thought I would ask. |

Re: DQ-10 mirrored pair, consecutive serial numbers, originals, great condition, for sale. Ontario, Canada
开云体育Just a word about cost and boxes. Regnar shipped collapsed boxes to me, I shipped the speakers to them for refurbishment, they shipped them back to me. I have kept those boxes. A worthwhile investment for moving the speakers; the shape is unwieldy and bulky and I consider the boxes “part of” the speakers. Yes, it does cost money but a mint unmolested set could have value that may be more than you are likely to see on Craigslist/eBay.?I have had my speakers since 1977 and wish I kept the original packing! Re: How do I POST my message please?
Shipped a pair about fifteen years back or so. That cost just under $200 total at the time to do it with each individually boxed up. As they were a surprise gift for the recipient, costs weren't really a factor. There are probably cheaper ways to ship if need be. I've used Forward Air in the past (about the same time frame) for large speaker boxes at costs less than small speakers would've been to ship via UPS. Of course, that required a willingness to drop off a package at one of their facilities and receive it at another. Things are likely different with how things are currently. |

Re: How do I POST my message please?
DQ10's are a must pick up item. As previously stated, the cost of shipping exceeds the value and there's the potential shipping damage to deal with. On Wed, Mar 24, 2021 at 2:58 PM w e <sky27709@...> wrote:

How do I POST my message please?
Hi! I have in great condition, a mirror pair of DQ-10's (NO mods) with stands for sale. I am in Ontario Canada and shipping would be difficult if not impossible. How do I let Dahlquist lovers learn that these are available for purchase? Sincerely, Rob Morrisburg, ON, K0C 1X0 613-363-7573 |

Re: New owner of a pair of DQ10s that need a lot of work
Most likely your not going to hear them working or not. Get a SPL meter and you will find it will.? On Thu, Jan 14, 2021, 6:34 AM richard adelberg <richardadelberg@...> wrote:

I’ve never heard anything from piezo tweeter before or after xo rcapoing. Only if I put a wire from amp to it.
