This is an excellent question, curious to hear from whoever chimes in.

William - how much coin are you dropping on this upgrade? Curious.

Impressive Bill!!!

Silver Plated OFC Ferrules and then covered with heat shrink. Wire is silver plated OFC with Teflon insulation.

The great thing about DQ-10s is, their sound quality never wavers in absolute terms (assuming proper care and maintenance). Which means that as their market price goes down, their overall value goes up. Great for buyers; not so great for sellers. But then again, why would you ever sell a pair of DQ-10s? ;-)

I do see a lot of parallels between vintage audio and classic cars and motorcycles. Both can be more temperamental than their modern counterparts, but when they're running well, there's no comparison.

SpongeSound is right in that it is not like a vintage car, but
people here give the group the same feel as a classic car group.
How could you not love that?

I have a mirrored pair of DQ-10’s, DQ-20i”s, DQ-20’s and they have all had tired and failing complaints.?
I had an open resistor and removed it to find it baked underneath so I removed the rest and found they were all been roasted but only the one had failed. I broke it in half and couldn’t believe the heat damage.?

The top view you’d never know anything was wrong.
I only use Military Spec Mill’s 1% tolerance resistors now and they’re also non-inductive with a highest heat range. All those original components have exceeded their life expectancy by either failing or the original tolerance is out or far out of spec. I’m available to test or measure any components or updates. I have seen people replace inductors with the same microfarad value not knowing they also have an impedance values need to stay the same as the original. I special order those with Linz wire at any value and they usually arrive within two to three weeks. I’m also replacing DQ-20 types with exterior mounted crossovers which do not require the unsealing and removal of the woofer. Everything’s so much easier to view and test and modify.?

Re: Hi group. What do you think these are worth?

I'm curious Jack. ?What happens when they fail? ?What do they sound like (if that can be explained)? ?Do they still work?

Re: Hi group. What do you think these are worth?

I am currently in the process of stacking two pairs of DQ-10s. ?On one pair I changed all the cross-overs caps, the other just one electrolyte cap and the potentiometer.

Actually the little film caps can fail, both of mine were DOA.? Always check everything over, do not assume anything is good you have not verified as good.

Re: Hi group. What do you think these are worth?

The 80uf for woofer tend to leak but those aren’t the black ones. Maybe chsnged. The piezo are film caps and don’t fail. The yellow Mexican ones can be checked in circuit with a peak 75 meter?

Re: Hi group. What do you think these are worth?

Yes, I am the original owner and there has been no work (no rewiring) other than the replacement of the woofer surrounds.?
