Re: Redesign or retrofit! #poll-notice

By all means do consider running and publishing the polar responses on those drivers. At the moment that's the available selection. Fwiw those affordable tweeters are usable. Back when they first came out I installed a pair. After a short audition I ended up removing 2/3rd of the ferrofluid swamp which helped. I swap back and forth between sets with the oem's and those. Naturally I prefer the oem but I do like both. Again the tweeter pots are your friend and a welcome addition.?

In the future I'll have to physically measure the cone/coil assembly's on both tweets. If possible I might try swapping the new cone/coils over to the oem magnet assembly's. Who knows what that outcome might produce..

Those oem upper mids are special to say the least. When the day arrives I'll be forced to try a replacement. In those the coils have a tendency to open. It sure would be nice if rebuild kits existed for both.

Hello?
I don’t think it’s a good idea, if you know in advance that the sound quality is lower.?

Just a quick update, while I have made some progress and evaluating options for DQ10 upgrade/ changes I am having issues finding driver candidates that are available. Many of the ones that look the best are on backorder, some of them for many months.
I am considering just using the drivers I can find (?These are inexpensive , available, and should be close to drop in replacements. Although they are likely not higher quality than what were in the speakers they were new, the modern maybe better designs, and they are not 45 years old!
Thoughts?
