I have no direct experience with M400 amplifiers.? I do however have years of experience with Carver amplifiers, mainly M500 and M1.0 and their variants.? My observations of M400 is that hey are dense topographies that are best when newly restored.? Unrestored examples typically a problematic.? The best technician to talk with about their restoration is Neilson Audio.? They are quick turn-around, eminently competent and fairly priced.? While I highly recommend them I have no affiliation nor receive anything for recommending them.

If newer topologies are of interest, I suggest looking into the G and D topologies coming to market.? They are dense power, cool running topologies that are clean sounding.? Prices are within a $1000 budget all the way to the stratosphere.? The research can be very educational and interesting.
I¡¯m interested in recommendations and experience with modern compact amplifiers. This is due to the amplifier ?chassis space I have available (12¡±x12¡±x12¡±).
