Spot Collector suggestion

Dave-?

In Spot Collector, one can right-click a spot and select "display spots of (call) near (freq) in (mode)".

I find this quite useful.

Would it be possible to modify Spot Collector to give the ability to monitor two (or more) spots at the same time.??

Thanks Dan ?KC2STA

Yes. One question is the level of effort, which I will investigate. The other question is "what fraction of the user community would employ such a capability, were it available?".

If that has too high of cost/benefit ratio,

how about when the NOTES screen is open, and you select a new spot, the NOTES updates itself without having to right click and select "display spots of (call) near (freq) in (mode)"?again. That way one could more easily use the NOTES function.

I'm ambivalent on this capability. However if it is useful to others I wouldn't deny them its utility.

Even though I have three monitors and the main monitor is 2560 x 1440 pixels, I wouldn't use it because of the extra screen space yet another window would take. In addition, I get the tracking of DX stations by defining the SQL buttons in spot collector for the current DXpeditions. Yes, I know it doesn't present all the spots, but it's enough to keep me busy.

If that has too high of cost/benefit ratio,

how about when the NOTES screen is open, and you select a new spot, the NOTES updates itself without having to right click and select "display spots of (call) near (freq) in (mode)" again. That way one could more easily use the NOTES function.

That would reduce the utility of the "Spots of" Window, as its contents would change if you selected a different Spot Database Entry in order to check for readability or the depth of a pileup.

Agreed.

IMO, from a UI perspective, the ideal behaviour would be that each
invocation of "Display spots of..." would create a new window, and
those windows would all persist until closed by the user.

I can see it potentially being useful to be able to track individual
spots for multiple database entries simultaneously, but it's probably
not something I'd use every day.

Yes, that's the enhancement that Dan KC2STA originally suggested.
