Re: Color codes?

Dave Bernstein

That sounds like a defect. I occasionally see the database window
displayed as "all black, non-bold" but it quickly redisplays
correctly. Evidently the screen update technique I am using is
inappropriate in other configurations; I'll implement a different
approach when I return. Thanks!

Re: Winwarbler

Tom,

You must configure WinWarbler to use CI-V Commander for rig control:
in WinWarbler's configuration window, click the PSK tab and select
the Xcvr Ctrl SW option in the Transmitter's PTT Mode panel.

SpotCollector band filter.

Dave,
There seems to be a little glitch in the band filter
functionality. I did the following:

1. Brought up the band filter, clicked "none" and then selected
20, 17, 15 and 10 meters.
This worked as expected and properly filtered out all the other
bands.

2. Closed and restarted SpotCollector. It now began showing me
spots for all bands even though the band filter still showed that
only 20, 17, 15 and 10 were selected.

3. Repeated step 1 and all was fine again.

Re: SpotCollector 1.0.0

If DXView is not plotting spots as they appear in the SpotCollector
database window, DXView's plot filters may be at work. Click DXView's
Config button, select the "Plot Filters" tab, and click the All
button in each of the Band Filter, Mode Filter, and Origin Filter
panels. Every subsequent incoming spot should be plotted. If this
isn't the case, please let me know what Windows variant you are
running so I can attempt to replicate the problem.

Using Notepad, I have a limited ability to inspect code. I don't
remember implementing a "right mouse button displays plot callsign"
feature in DXView, nor can I find the code that would perform this
operation. Where do you see the callsign appear?

Re: SpotCollector 1.0.0 is available for beta test...

Dave Bernstein

If the database folder is showing up on your Windows desktop, that's
a defect. I am on the road this week (in VK); unfortunately, the
development environment on my laptop has died in a way that precludes
me from even looking at code, much less modifying it. So this
correction will have to wait until my return next weekend. The good
news is that without the ability to code, I'll be forced to write
online help...

Guess I forgot to release CI-V Commander 2.5.3; sorry about that.
I'll take care of that when I return as well.

Keep in mind that DXView lets you control which (if any) spots get
plotted on DXView's world map, as well as their lifetime. This
control is independent of SpotCollector's database and the filter
through which you view it.

Popping up a tooltip (with callsign and frequency) when the mouse
cursor lingers over a plotted DX spot on DXView's map is certainly
feasible, though there's the minor problem that more than one
callsign may be involved. I'll add it to the list...

Pathfinder Users: RW1QM is down for repairs

Dave, AA6YQ

As you can see from , RW1QM is recovering from
problems with his hosting server. Lets wish Alex a speedy recovery; until
then, the Octavia database is another excellent source of CIS QSO info. If
you haven't assigned Octavia to a search button, follow the instructions at

file Octavia.txt from your search folder.

Pathfinder is a free program that makes it easy to find QSL information from
more than 100 web-accessible sources. See for
additional information and download instructions. Or use the Pathfinder Web
Client -- its a little less flexible, but requires no downloading or
installation and runs in any Javascript-supporting browser on Windows,
MacOS, Linux, or Unix; just visit .

Onderwerp: [dxlab] SpotCollector update

SpotCollector is now operational to the point where I am using it
with the other DXLab applications in daily service. I need to remove
some rough edges before releasing it to beta testing, but the end is
in sight. Check out the screen shot at
.

SpotCollector captures spots from the DX Summit spotting network (by
way of the #CQDX IRC channel) and up to four additional telnet-
accessible spotting networks. Spots are merged and stored in a
database on your PC, enabling you to monitor, sort, and filter them
in real time. A PC running Windows 95, 98, 2000, or NT with an SVGA
or better display is required. SpotCollector is free, and contains
no advertising. Commercial use is expressly forbidden.

Interoperation with DXLab applications:

- If you're using DXView, incoming spots will be plotted on its
world map

- If you're using DXKeeper, SpotCollector will color spot database
entries for stations with whom you need a QSO to achieve specified
DXing objectives

- If you're using CI-V Commander, clicking on a spot database entry
will QSY your Icom transceiver to the appropriate frequency and mode

DXKeeper 1.2.7 is available

Dave, AA6YQ

In this version, striking CTRL-Enter in any QSO Capture Window textbox logs
the current information and clears all fields for the next QSO. I did not
add this functionality to fields in the main logging window; lets see how
this first change works.

DXKeeper 1.2.7 will be a pre-requisite for the forthcoming SpotCollector
release -- the Configuration screen's Awards tab is considered in
determining whether a spotted station is "needed", just as it determines
what QSOs you need confirmed. SpotCollector references these settings even
if DXKeeper is not running.

If you've already installed DXKeeper 1.1.1 or later, you can upgrade to
version 1.2.7 by downloading and then running
