Re: Recent Error in DX Keeper Creating DX Marathon Progress Report

Spot Collector wanted DXCC ONLY, no states, no zones, no continents...
With my spots database having over 3500 entries, the only "wanted" items are DXCC items.? No continents, no zones, etc.? I'm finding it hard to believe that not even ONE entry is on a band-zone or band-continent that I need.? What have I done / not done here? Recent Error in DX Keeper Creating DX Marathon Progress Report
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? Hello Dave,
I have been using DX Keeper and other DX Labs programs since midyear 2020 with great success and have never had a problem whatsoever. I am totally sold on the DX Lab Suite and have recommended it to many of my friends.??
Last year I submitted for the DX Marathon as Mixed Formula 100W, but I also kept tabs on my Challenge progress from inside DX Keeper just because it was fun. This year in 2025, I am pursuing the DX Marathon Challenge.? Periodically I check my progress
from inside DX Keeper using the Check Progress?Tab and then clicking the
Progress Button?in the DX Marathon Challenge Section.? This has been working every time without fail both last year and this year until recently.? I'm not really sure when it stopped working.? I figured I had pushed some button wrong and hadn't paid
much attention to it but then yesterday I decided to delve into it and see what I might have messed up. What happens is, when I push the button to run the report nothing happens, other than the DX Keeper Title Bar displaying the following Message:
See DXKeeper Errorlog.txt.?I have tried almost every other
Progress Report?on the page, and they all seem to work just fine.? When looking at the
DXKeeper Errorlog.txt, it has two errors that I can see that are repeatable. Here is what is generated into the Error Log every time I try to run the Progress report:?

2025-04-22 20:42:25.494 > program error 91 in module DXLogMain.MarathonProgressCmd_Click: Object variable or With block variable not set
I went back in the log, and it appears that the first time these errors started showed up was on April 15, 2025, with Version 17.9.9. I am running up to date Windows 11 on a Dell i7 Computer.?
I am going to need help fixing this since this is beyond my paygrade and training.? It seems like something may have gotten corrupted.?
Thanks for the fantastic software and for the excellent support!

Dave thank you for your quick response! Did the reboot and immediately tried again, but with the same results... + In one previous case, ""Error in loading DLL" was caused by the presence of Norton Utilities; uninstalling Norton Utilities eliminated the behavior. Do you have Norton Utilities installed on your system? + If you don't have Norton Utilities installed, please carefully follow the instructions in this Microsoft Support article for dealing with "Error in loading DLL": <> 73, Dave, AA6YQ |

+ "Error in loading DLL" means that the Microsoft Jet Database Engine is broken. As a first step, reboot Windows, immediately start DXKeeper, and see if you can create the desired new log file. ? ? ? 73, ? ? ? ? ? ?Dave, AA6YQ |
Error while trying to create new database in DxKeeper
Hi everyone,
I want to create a new database in DxKeeper to add QSOs that I made in a different DXCC entity than my QTH.
I am going down the path Config>(Log file) New>entering filename and then getting an error message "unable to create log database (filename)".
I tried 3-4 times and every time getting the same message.
?
Searching the errorlog I found the entry:
"program error 48 in module DXLogModule.CreateLog, State = 7, Pathname = C:\DXLab\DXKeeper\Databases\J45P.mdb: Error in loading DLL"
?
If anyone could help...
?
Thanks!

If the??file does not specify bounds for the Entry's band and mode, or if the Entry's frequency is not between the specified bounds, the?target frequency?is the Entry's frequency rounded down to the next lowest 1 kilohertz" + If that's the case, why must you "manually enter the receive frequency using DXCommander in order to start decoding the station"? + The DX Cluster Protocol is to spot the TX frequency of a station operating in split and (optionally) include the split or RX frequency in the spot notes. + When using the direct interoperation between WSJT-X and DXLab, DXKeeper is directed to log the TX frequency only. Based on your earlier comment that you are using JTAlert, I assume that JTAlert is directing DXKeeper to log both frequencies. ? ? ? ? 73, ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Dave, AA6YQ |

+ That's fine. Just follow the step-by-step instructions. + Then stop and rest your eyes and your mind.; don't take the procedure up again until both are feeling fresh. Several ops have suggested printing out the instructions and checking off each step as you complete it. ?

I have Spot Split Frequency turned on. ?In the spot note all I see is FT8. ?Anyways, I see no reason to spot the transmit frequency in FT8. ?Also, in my log the receive frequency is the same as the transmit frequency for all my FT8 contacts. ?I am using JTAlert as the interface with DXLab.+ FT8 is a simplex mode. The fact that your transmitter's frequency may be offset to ensure a higher audio frequency is irrelevant to other stations seeking to work the station whose frequency you spot.? + Spotting the exact frequency of an FT8 station is less critical than when spotting a station operating in SSB, CW, or RTTY. Almost all FT8 ops use WSJT-X or a derivative of it, and thus need only the station's callsign and band; WSJT-X will report the station's frequency when it is next decoded. ? ? ? ?73, ? ? ? ? ? ? I wanted to let you know that I currently have no direct network connection.

I have backup folders/files saved at the following location: ?
F:\New PC\SafeStorage\Workspaces\RelocationBackup ? F:\New PC ? ?

With the new PC setup and the process of transferring files from the old PC, I have to admit that I'm feeling a bit bleary-eyed.

When posting a spot by right-clicking on the call in DXKeeper the spot is posted with the transmit frequency. ?I think it would be more beneficial to post the receive frequency. ?Tuning to the transmit frequency is of little value. ?I often see spots posted using the transmit frequency then I must determine the correct receive frequency. ?For example, if the station was spotted with a frequency of 7054.7 I don't know if the receive frequency is 7054, 7053, etc. ?+ Enable DXKeeper's "Spot split frequency" option, which is described here: ? ? ? ?73, ? ? ? ? ? ?
