Re: Infected file for Commander 14.5.5 update?

That is a false positive caused by the malware program. It isn¡¯t there. In
your program, make the DXLabs folder and the WSJT folder (if you are using
it) as an exception. It works. I am running Win10 and I have the warnings
from Win10 Windows Security or Defender. I updated with no issue.

The problem is the MalWare program - not DXLabs.

Commander, Launcher, and DX Keeper were all infected with "avend"

them.

Hopfully this will get cleaned up soon.

Re: DXKeeper Display Issue

Good article, Dave! Tnx for posting it!

My "primary" monitor is the 24" 1920 X 1080. That's where my icons live, and the monitor I use most. The secondary is a 20" 1680 X 1050.

I think I solved the problem. I had started by increasing the scaling in Windows to 110 % (I incorrectly stated 105 % in my original post). 110 % was too high, as it cut off the bottom of DXKeeper. I reduced the scaling 1 % at a time until DXKeeper was completely visible again. That turned out to be 106 %.

That 6 % of increase made all the difference in the world! All the screens are now easily legible, and they only take up a bit more real estate.

Age is 71, and my vision was 20/800 until I had LASIK 20 years ago. Since then, cataracts and floaters have reduced my vision, but this was the solution I was looking for!!

Thanks Again es 73

Doesn't look like that's possible on this old HP. The BIOS gives the

Motherboard video is disabled. I'm going to try decreasing the scaling a
percentage point at a time and see if I can zero in on what
(hopefully) works. Might be an easier option to just get glasses!

+ Another alternative you could try: activate the motherboard video, and
use it to drive the secondary monitor.

Re: Help Commander Disappeared

I have to say that this is not fun.
You can exclude the DXLabs folder after removing the quarantined file from jail but this is also a danger. Once you exclude that folder a trojan could put itself there. It is a case of dead if you do and dead if you do not I excluded ad will take the chance that most malware does not know about this possible problem and along with good backup it is better to live with it. If something bad happens then Acronis (and many other image backup programs) can do a full restore in a very short time.

It's likely that those 2 QSOs were in your test upload.

On the QSL ->LotW tab, click the "QSL Config" button and check the
"Permit uploading of QSOs already uploaded to LotW" box.

report that both the missing applications were working fine post
update for at least a couple of hours. DXCommander disappeared first
and then about another 2 hours later DXkeeper disappeared as well.
Windows Updates generally include an update to the Defender virus
signature list. The update probably triggered a rescan of your
system which took some time before Commander and DXKeeper were
flagged (falsely).

I have tried various methods to reinstall and no luck so far.
See: /g/DXLab/message/192460

You will need to repeat the first half twice - once to remove
Commander from quarantine and a second time to remove DXKeeper
from quarantine. The second half (excluding the entire DXLab
directory tree) should protect DXLab Suite from further attacks
by Defender.
