Import trouble, unexpected "," in County field
开云体育Hi,I am helping a friend to convert his excel file logbook and import it into DX Keeper. All has gone well so far by changing a few field headings to make them recognised? and then exporting the Excel file as a tab delimited file. This file imports into DX Keeper fine with what seems to be one strange effect that I have not been able to track down. In DXKeeper the imported log shows a , in front of every county, so instead of Monmouth it shows ,Monmouth? this of course produces a lot or errors with county changed and invalid secondary administrative subdivision. Looking at the tab delimited file there is no evidence of the spurious , Is there a simple explanation for whats going on? Martin, HS0ZED |

Re: Infected file for Commander 14.5.5 update?
开云体育There is no trojan or virus in any DXLab executable.??? Just as
there is no virus or trojan in other ham radio programs like
JTAlert, WSJT-X, and many others that get 'triggered' due to some
algorithm only known to Microsoft.???? I have never had a problem
with any DXLab program, nor with the others I mentioned. On 4/9/2020 8:10 PM, Jack Brabham -

The only file is dxkeeper719.exe there is no dxkeeper1549.exe Greg. Ke9ur * OK. Please do the following: 1. On the Launcher's Configuration window, check the "Log debugging info" box 2. Direct the Launcher to upgrade DXKeeper 3. After clicking the update button a window comes up doing downloading. After downloading then a message comes up Can't replace c\DXLAB\DXKEEPER.EXE because it's either in use or write protected. DXKEEPER has not been updated. Then I Hit the OK button Now dxkeeper won't run because DXKeeper.exe was removed. DXKeeper719.exe is still there. + Please reboot Windows, and then use Windows Explorer to navigate to your DXKeeper folder. Is the file DXKeeper1549.exe + present in the folder? Re: Infected file for Commander 14.5.5 update?
开云体育Jack, this happens
altogether too often - I have seen it with software from a
number of different authors and several different anti-virus
programs..? My impression is that some of these anti-virus
programs use heuristics and make a best guess at what they might
be seeing - they are often wrong, particularly with programs
that communicate off-site. 73, Pete N4ZR Check out the Reverse Beacon Network at , now spotting RTTY activity worldwide. For spots, please use your favorite "retail" DX cluster. On 4/9/2020 8:10 PM, Jack Brabham -

As for cleaners, almost none of it good. I think the registry is the biggest defect of windows design although I have no idea of how it should have been done.

Re: Infected file for Commander 14.5.5 update?
I should add to my instructions about how to remove a file from quarantine: I'm no computer?expert. I found that this procedure?works for me. In the interests of avoiding any liability from someone who gets in a jam by not following the instructions precisely, or finds them inaccurate or unhelpful: "While believed to be correct, this advice comes with no guarantees of any kind. You alone remain responsible for the security of information on your computer system".?? It's sad, when trying to help people that a statement like this has to be made, but.... What is the saying: YMMV? Use Windows 10 at your own risk? Take a file out of quarantine at your own risk? By the time we are done with all this CMA stuff, we might as well turn all this ham radio equipment off and watch TV.? Nevertheless, the advice to put in a disclaimer when trying to help anyone with any software is excellent advice! 73, N0AN Hasan On Thu, Apr 9, 2020 at 3:03 PM Hasan Schiers N0AN via <hbasri.schiers6=gmail.com@groups.io> wrote:

Of course any DX Lab binary can be infected with malware. + Nowhere have I or anyone else claimed they cannot. However, there has been no such report of any such infection over the past 20 years; the installed base is just not large enough to attract attention from criminals. Dave, AA6YQ |

I understand that, but the Download page that is behind the Download link on the home page does not directly lead you to links to download the individual executables. It references Launcher as the starting point and advises to use that to install the other apps. + That's intentional. The Launcher should be used to install DXLab applications; it's automation eliminates user error. + "Downloading executables" is not the way to recover from an attack by your anti-malware applications. The correct procedure is here: <> 73, Dave, AA6YQ |
