I think it would be a great benefit if en the capture is open and you type in a callsign and hit tab that it spells out the call sign in phonetics. It sounds so professional when you can quickly respond to the other ham with the proper phonetics each and every time.
Someone is doing this now with a small logger to NPOTA and I would love to have it added to DXlabs.
Example:

N8NQN [tab]

below last line (under user defined) make a new line that is length of window

Most users do not have the Capture window configured at ¡°full height¡±; having the phonetics only be visible when that¡¯s the case would likely reduce usage. The better option would be to display the phonetics in a small window that would only appear if the ¡°phonetics option¡± were enabled.
Phonetics are not just used to convey callsigns in difficult conditions; they're used to convey any relevant information - a city name, a street address,, the names of injured people, etc. Arguably then a ham should be capable of employing phonetics to convey arbitrary words, in which case automation for callsigns is unnecessary.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am in good shape now. Most of the ¡°V¡±erified were from my first DXCC card submission. I went through that submission way back when and manually marked them ¡°V¡±erified in logger. These particular credits are for entity only. I¡¯m not sure why that is but I¡¯ll follow up with DXCC desk and figure that out.

Before the DXCC desk began using a computer to track award progress, if you submitted a QSL card seeking entity credit, the band and mode were not recorded. If the DXCC desk confirms that to be the case for your QSOs, then you'll want to resubmit those cards to get entity-band and entity-mode cred.
What I ended up doing was using the ¡°E¡±ntity option on those contacts.

Exactly right.
I¡¯m not sure when that option, and the others were introduced, but I¡¯ve been sidelined for several years and just now getting things going again.

Welcome back, Ken!

As far as the others, like the EK example, the DXCC didn¡¯t have it marked as a credit for me for that band/mode. I must have at some point jumped the gun and marked it and a few others like it ¡°V¡±erified by mistake.

Everything checks out now. Your software is a real joy to use, thanks for that.

Subject: [dxlab] DXCC Verification Discrepancy resolution how-to?

I¡¯m having some difficulty making sense of the DXCC Verification Discrepancies report and how to resolve what shows up on the report. There are two specific cases I¡¯m dealing with.

One example is the report contains a record for say entity=TK, mode=CW, Log Status=V, ARRL Status=null. On the ARRL LOTW website, my account has an entry for TK5EP, 15M, CW. This matches exactly a logbook entry which also has LoTW Receive Status=V. This credit is missing from the list of downloaded credits, which has been updated. I don¡¯t understand the discrepancy and how best to resolve it?

Log into your LoTW web account and view your DXCC Award Credit Matrix. (I can't cite a URL in "Using LoTW" that explains how to do this because LoTW is down for scheduled maintenance at this moment). Does it show that DXCC credit has been granted for TK in CW?
There other example which I believe I have an explanation is from QSL cards that were submitted many years ago, long before LoTW. The LoTW credits do not contain band or mode, just entity.

That¡¯s not correct. DXCC credits created by submitting an LoTW confirmation always specify the entity, band, and mode.
The discrepancy report for these same DXCC entities call out band and/or mode discrepancies. I believe this to be caused by the LoTW credit missing both band and mode with the QSL status=V in the log. The question again is how best to resolve this discrepancy?

How/why was the QSL status set to 'V' in the logged QSO?
LoTW confirmations are not DXCC Credits; an LoTW Confirmation must be included in a DXCC application to generate a DXCC Credit.
DXCC Credits generated from QSL cards can contain errors in their callsign, date, band, and mode fields. Such credits must be manually linked.
I¡¯ve tried both Autolink and Repair for LoTW.

Neither will link a credit to a QSO unless the credit exactly matches the QSO. ¡°Imperfect¡± credits must be manually linked to their QSOs, as is described in
<>

Perhaps I should reset the LoTW QSL status and resend the QSO¡¯s to be processed again?

That will produce a result no different than what you now see.
For the paper QSL¡¯s, do I need to resend the cards for band/mode credit?

If the expected credit does not appear in your DXCC Award Credit Matrix, yes ¨C though you should first contact the DXCC desk and see if they can determine how a DXCC credit previously granted has disappeared.

Well, i tried your suggestions Dave but still unable to connect Commander to the Flexradio 6700. The changes that I made per our instructions were

1) Put IP address and IP Port into empty boxes Previously I had put the IP address in but was using 5002 as port--changed that to 4992 and in Smart CAT also changed to 4992 (it was 5002)

2) In primary CAT Serial Port took Port 4 out where I have Flex 6700 and made it blank as you suggested in item #4.

3) Hit reset--and no connection---

I only occasionally update Commander, as it has worked perfectly with my old Yaesu MP Field for many years.? Starting with version 12.0.8 I noticed that sometimes the RS232 ports would not synch up when turning the PC back on.? I rarely reboot the PC, but shut it down in "Sleep" mode when I leave the shack.? This has never been a problem in the past.

The recent problem would show randomly about one time in 4-10 wake up cycles.? This required either clicking the Reset button in the Commander Config window, or restarting Commander.? Clicking the Reset button would first pop up an error msg saying Port 5 not open, and showing all the port settings as blank.? Clicking the button a second time would reconnect the ports.? I updated to v. 12.0.12 and saw the same problem.

The next oldest version I had was 12.0.2.? I reverted to that and the problem, so far, has not shown up.? I will report back if I see any further occurrences.

I guess most people leave their PCs on continuously after booting up for the day, and thus would not see this.? I am in and out many times a day, and thus have always worked in Sleep/Wake mode.

Re: Commander Randomly Not Synching With Rig

No, this is a real RS232 connection, not through a USB converter.? I am well aware of those problems.? Again I have used this setup for 12 years with no problem until these latest versions.? The older version still works fine.

Thanks for the input however.

Re: Commander Randomly Not Synching With Rig

This is not a Commander issue. It is known problem with many USB
serial drivers ... they do not "wake up" properly once the USB port
has been powered down. You will need to adjust the Windows Power
Options (Control Panel | Power Options) to disable USB Selective
Suspend.

I guess most people leave their PCs on continuously after booting up
for the day, and thus would not see this. I am in and out many times
a day, and thus have always worked in Sleep/Wake mode.
It is generally best to avoid sleep/hibernate. Simply power down
when not using the computer (away) and reboot when returning. If
done properly (disable hybrid sleep), all hardware drivers are
reloaded and reinitialized on each boot ... this also avoids many
Windows "resources" issues by cleaning up memory/resource leaks.
