Subject: [dxlab] Upgrade Request for DXKeeper
I think it would be a great benefit if en the capture is open and you type in a callsign and hit tab that it spells out the call sign in phonetics. It sounds so professional when you can quickly respond to the other ham with the proper phonetics each and every time.
Someone is doing this now with a small logger to NPOTA and I would love to have it added to DXlabs.
Example:
N8NQN [tab]
below last line (under user defined) make a new line that is length of window
Most users do not have the Capture window configured at ¡°full height¡±; having the phonetics only be visible when that¡¯s the case would likely reduce usage. The better option would be to display the phonetics in a small window that would only appear if the ¡°phonetics option¡± were enabled.
Phonetics are not just used to convey callsigns in difficult conditions; they're used to convey any relevant information - a city name, a street address,, the names of injured people, etc. Arguably then a ham should be capable of employing phonetics to convey arbitrary words, in which case automation for callsigns is unnecessary.
