Re: alarm on Pathfinder 4.4.6

Danny Douglas

I am using Win2000Pro, and understood IE 7 wasnt built for that? I dont
know why the problem when I try either ie5 or ie6, but when I have the
executable up and running, it goes to the MS site, says its starting, then
just sits there, never completing the job. I eventually stop it (after an
hour or more), and I do have high speed download here. Once, I even left it
connected and supposedly downloading for 4 hours, came back and it was still
just sitting there. Its odd, because when I try to do it again, it comes
back and asks if I wasnt to continue, or start from the beginning. Doesnt
matter which I select, it still doesnt do anything.

At work, I had a complete copy I used there, without having to do the
playing around, but when I retired, I forgot to bring a copy with me. We
just got tired of dealing with that, for hundreds of computers. I suspect I
will be able to put the Win2000 disc back in, and get it from there, but
dont want to foul things up, being as I am down to just one operating
computer here right now. Still waiting for a new hard drive for the family
computer - and want to keep one operational. HI.

Actually I don't think you can completely remove IE from your system.
There have been huge lawsuits over that but Microsoft claims it is an
integral part of the system and cannot be removed.

With WinXP+ you can hide the IE desktop Icon and make another browser
the default but you can't remove IE. Yes if you want to download IE 7
(It's a big improvement over IE 6 so I recommend you do that) it
first gets a very small executable that I believe determines what
parts of IE you need to download for your particular system and
downloads only what you need. That works, and it minimizes the amount
of stuff you need to download. Why is that a problem?

Anyone else having this problem? Below is a representative excerpt
from the DXCC report "Card Aging". I'm at a loss as to why the mode

no band. Am I missing something?

Re: Suggestion for WinWarbler

Open the WinWarbler's Config window, and select the "Broadband
Decode" tab. In the "Stations Heard" panel, check the "create local
spots in SpotCollector" box. Now every station decoded by stations
heard will be added to your Spot Database, where it will be colored
according to need, and can be filtered and/or sorted as desired. If
you set SpotCollector's Band filter to "Transceiver Band Only" and
set its Mode filter to "PSK31", then the the Spot Database Display
will only show PSK31 spots from the Stations Heard window or other
ops, all colored by need. If you only want to see spots generated by
the Stations Heard window, use the SQL filter

I finally "resolved" my software problem when I found the original CD

wiring up the mess again will be the next task. I'll give all the

The file LauncherAgent.exe should have been installed in your Launcher
folder when the launcher was initially installed. Is this file present?

If its missing, let me know and I'll email you a replacement copy; that
you can simply save into your Launcher folder. If that's the only file
missing, you should then be able to upgrade the Launcher.

Re: upgrading launcher

Whatever you do, "DON'T" just delete files from the launcher installation folder without first uninstalling it via add/remove programs in the control panel. To do so would remove the uninstall information and leave you with a much more difficult problem to correct. That's true of any installed program.

Assuming that the path name you gave is correct in accordance with the location where you initially installed Lanucher 1.5.2, there should be a file named "launcheragent.exe" there. If it's not there, apparently something didn't go right with the initial installation. Dave should be on-line a little later so let's wait for him to suggest the appropriate action. I just wanted to get this out quickly to hopefully avoid the above far more serious mistake. The good news is that If you have successfully installed other DXLab applications, they should not be affected by this problem.

I have a similar problem with AWS Weatherbug. Whenever I go to the radar display and ask to enlarge or animate the display I get that script error. It's very strange because it doesn't matter whether I say continue or don't continue, it continues anyway and nothing seems to be wrong. It seems to be a Windows thing and thus far I haven't been able to track it down. If anyone has the solution I'lI be eternally grateful. However, I have not had any problem with QRZ.com and Pathfinder 4.4.6.

I keep getting a pop up alarm when using Pathfinder: :
An error has occured in the script on this page
line 249
char 1
error object expected code 0
url ;database?callsign=(((callsign I have requested))))

No matter if I say to continue or not to continue to use the script- the web
site comes up with the proper response information.

When I go direct to qrz, I dont get the alarm.
This has been happening since I downloaded 4.4.6
