Spot Collector Need Filter Troubles
This morning a spot showed up for YB1JCD on 160 CW on SC.? In the Needed column the spot showed a D which agrees with what DXView shows for YB Progress (DXV shows no QSO's on 160 in any mode for YB).? My problem is that when I choose the Need filter in SC the spot doesn't show up (it does show other needed spots, but no this one).? All of my other filter that I expected to show that spot do show it but just not the Need filter.? My Need filter is set to filter for Band and Mode and (Unconfirmed DXCC, IOTA, VUCC, WAZ). It's been set that way for years and I have never seen a spot for a needed one not show up in the Need filter.??
?
Can someone please point me in the right direction to solve this???
?
Thanks,
?

Spotcollector A Index
Recently, I have noticed the A index from WWV as reported in Spotcollector, has been showing as 86 and highlighted with a dark red color. That does not seem correct.?

Re: Cannot get Commander to Connect to SDR
Dave,
?
Set WSJTX Radio to? Kenwood TS2000 and Serial Port to COM4.?
?
Create new COM5 serial port with SmartSDR CAT.
?
Configure DX Commander Radio to KENWOOD and configure Commander ?to connect to? SmartSDR CAT serial COM5 (Commander Ports tab > Primary CAT Serial Port > Port #5).
?
If? SmartSDR CAT ports COM4 or COM5 are? in currently in use by other applications, create new serial port(s) and configure the Commander and WSJTX Port numbers accordingly (for example my setup below).?
?
This works flawlessly for remote ops with my Flex 8600.

Re: issue with log
Yep, I know.? I'm a systems analyst.? I just need to smarten up and do backups more often.? The plan is to replace the computer when we get moved into our new house but for now it's the best I can do.? I'll start doing a backup everyday just in case.? 73, Don VA7ZT On Thu, Feb 13, 2025 at 6:18?PM Dave AA6YQ via <aa6yq=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: issue with log
Thanks Dave, I'll look into it.? I keep the log file on a Raid 5 NAS drive because I know the little computer at my rig is an old piece of garbage.? It's done spontaneous reboots once in a while since I got it several years ago.? All I do with it is DXLab and WSJTX.? No other software is installed on it and other than spot collector, doesn't use the internet for anything. Normally if it reboots and holds the lock file open I just make a copy of the log in a different directory and it will open fine.? This is the first time that I had this issue with it.? I'll do a full recompute on it as well as run some reports to see if my #'s on things like DXCC are right.? And tonight I'll run a disc check to see if the HD is packing it in. 73, Don VA7ZT On Thu, Feb 13, 2025 at 5:00?PM Dave AA6YQ via <aa6yq=[email protected]> wrote:

I'll do all that.? Very odd.? I've had issues with lock files not being released after a crash but this was a first+ A crash that occurs while writing a record to a database like your log can easily leave the records in that database's multiple tables in an inconsistent state. Partially-updated records are another possibility. If the crash was caused by a hardware failure, all manner of bad things can happen. + I suggest checking the Windows Event Log to see what actually happened. Preventative maintenance or replacement could avert a repeat performance. ? ? ? ?73, ? ? ? ? ? ? Dave, AA6YQ |
Re: Commander UDP RadioInfo Message Format
+ AA6YQ comments below.
+ On logging a new QSO, DXKeeper does not send an outgoing message in any protocol. + Serious contesters are not encouraged to use DXKeeper during contests, as it provides none of the realtime analytics that such contesters would expect, e.g. score and rate. DXKeeper's support for contesting is focused on DXers participating in contests to seek QSOs that would advance their DXing objectives. ? ? ? ? 73, ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Dave, AA6YQ |

I recommend that you immediately back up the file! Then *Export* the contents to a "Standard ADIF" file so that you can import them into a new log if necessary. Finally, go to Config -> Log and "Compact" the file so that the database structure is cleaned/renewed. 73, ... Joe, W4TV On 2025-02-13 7:04 PM, Don Carlgren via groups.io wrote:

Re: issue with log
Hi Dave, While I awaited a response I tried several more times opening it always with the same error message.? Then I changed the filename and tried several times again and it came right up after about the 4th try.? Go figure.? All QSO's are there as of this morning.? Very odd. So I'll be doing backups a little more often as my last one was back in mid Dec and I only upload to LOTW once a month so I was looking at a lot of manual entry. Thanks so much for the usual quick response. 73, Don VA7ZT On Thu, Feb 13, 2025 at 3:43?PM Dave AA6YQ via <aa6yq=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Commander UDP RadioInfo Message Format
This message thread seems along the same line as what I need from DXKeeper.
?
I am working on a new contesting project that needs to interactively get logging activity during a contest. This is easy with N1MM, HRD, and N3FJP because they all broadcast an UDP packet when the user makes a log entry. I would like to do the same with DXKeeper and listen for log entries, but I cannot find in the documentation how to do this. Can someone please tell me the best way to do this with DXKeeper? Does it broadcast on log event?

+ Your log file was evidently damaged by the crash. + Replace your log file with the most recent backup of your log file. If the most recent backup doesn't contain all of your recent QSOs but the missing QSOs were uploaded to LoTW, let me know and I'll explain how to recover some of the missing QSO data from LoTW. ? ? ? ? ?73, ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Dave, AA6YQ |
issue with log
Hi Dave, My radio computer crashed today.? When I relaunched everything I'm not able to get my log to open.? I keep getting a message that VA7ZT.mdb is an unrecognized format. I tried copying the log to a different directory thinking the stale lock file was causing it but I'm still getting the error. Thoughts? 73, Don VA7ZT |
