Subject: [dxlab] DXpedition QSLing
Some challenges I keep running into lately, when QSLing multiple QSOs with
DXpeditions...
If the DXped has a QSL manager, I need to update "QSL via" and address for
every QSO to reflect that. I can do some of this by filtering the log by
callsign, and Control-Alt-Click'ing "CBA". That updates the "via" OK (IF
it's a simple callsign in QRZ.COM if it's something like "direct only via
W1ABC", I'm not sure what happens). Anyway, I then need to update the
address for each QSO to that of the manager ... is there a way to do that in
one shot, or do I have to go through each QSO and double-click the address,
click on Manager, then click Save? That's quite tedious when you have a
dozen of more QSOs. Perhaps there should be an option to update the address
to that of the manager on "CBA", if the "via" is a valid callsign?
This is best accomplished when your QSos have been added to the QSL
Queue. Double-click a QSL Queue entry, and DXKeeper's "Address Editor"
window will appear. This window displays the QSO's Via (QSL Manager), "Sent
Via", and Address items. It provides the ability to perform a callbook
lookup of the callsign or the QSL Manager's callsign. If you change the
QSO's Via, "Sent Via", or Address items and click the "Address Editor"
window's Save button, the logged QSO will be updates, and DXKeeper will
check for other entries in the QSL Queue with the same callsign; if such
entries are found, DXKeeper will offer to update all of them with the
information in the "Address Editor"
Ah-ha! That sounds like it should work. Thanks!
On a slightly related note, is there a reason that "Print preview" is for
QSL labels only, and not Address labels? I'd be really nice to see what
address labels are going to be printed beforehand...
"Print Preview" for address labels is on the list. In the mean time, you
can preview the addresses that will printed on envelopes or address labels
by clicking the "Create Address File" button; this is useful both to verify
that all addresses are reasonable, and as an aide to correctly stuffing
outgoing QSL cards into addressed envelopes.
OK, but another issue I've run into is when lines of the address are
long, sometimes they run off the edge of the label (and over onto the
next label). I'd like to catch those before printing too.
