Aha! (A famous palindrome!)
I guess I must not have read the HELP data as much as I could have!
I didn't realize a QSL received could be coded as an "S."
I've found it somewhat confusing in virtually every logging program
I've seen in the last couple of years. I'm very active at pursuing
the DX Challenge. It's quite common to have something like a "C" on
80m SSB and a "V" on 80m CW for any given country. When your cards
are sent/checked, you can't automatically include both modes. For
the DX Challenge, you either have someone on a given band or you
don't, there are no "mode" options for the Challenge. Therefore,
just because I have a "C" in the appropriate "slot" doesn't mean the
card needs to be sent to the ARRL. That was why I took sides with Ed
over wanting the "S" elsewhere.
I've been keeping a completely segregated file (in Excel) to keep
track of both what was approved/verified by ARRL and what needed to
be sent (or had been sent). Keeping track of what I've worked/needed
is still handy because I have some friends with whom I share "need"
data. We all use the same Excel file so our formats are identical
and we can see at a moments notice if one of us needs something on
the air and can call each other. Now, if I had a way to share part
of my DXKeeper with them - which would be rather difficult.
I guess I'm *still* learning the nuances of the suite. As a matter
of fact, yesterday I was filing the cards that came back from my
last ARRL filing. I was curious as to just how many QSL cards I
have. I started counting cards in the first box, then stopped. I
went to DXKeeper and filtered for QSL_Rvcd = "Y" or QSL_Rcvd = "V"
and got a filtered output around 7,000. Granted, there are a number
of multiple-QSO cards in my collection, but that probably means I
have easily over 6,000 cards. Not too bad for 13,000+ QSOs I guess.

If QSL_RCVD for a XU card is "Y" but you can't find the card, then
you lost it. If you'd submitted it to the ARRL DXCC desik but not
yet gotten it back, its QSL_RCVD would be "S".

Okay, in Ed's defense, let me play Devil's Advocate.
I filter my data and see that XU = "Y" but I can't find the
card.
Does that mean the card was submitted to ARRL or that I lost it?

When I implemented the Submission mechanism, I thought about
doing
that Ed, but couldn't think of a reason why a DXer would need
to
differentiate between a confirmed entity-band or entity-mode
and
a
confirmed-and-submitted entity-band or entity-mode -- other
than
when making a next submission before the previous submission
has
been processed, which the current implementation handles.
"Verify that I have the correct cards on hand" can be
accomplished
by filtering the Log Page Display to show all QSOs whose
QSL_RCVD
item is either 'Y' or 'V'. You could add additional filtering
terms
to do this by band, mode, or entity, e.g.
((QSL_RCVD ='Y') or (QSL_RCVD='V')) and (DXCCPREFIX='VU4')
to see all Andaman Islands cards that should be on hand, or
((QSL_RCVD ='Y') or (QSL_RCVD='V')) and (MODE='RTTY')
to see all RTTY cards that should be on hand.

I was trying to see what card I should have on hand. I had

anyone

thaan some.
