One use case, of mine, might be of interest to you regarding QRZ.com "xml data subscription".
?
First, I use DXKeeper for my logbook.? Which enables me to set specific fields of interest for display after I log a contact.
?
DXKeeper also enables me to automatically query the qrz.com data base (with the xml data subscription) when you enter a new contact.
?
DXKeeper ALSO allows you to customize key information you would like displayed AFTER a query to qrz.com xml database.
?
for example, after a query, my log book, for the relevant call sign, will show
?
callsign? ? Date/Time? ? Band? ? Mode? ?Operator Name? ?QTH? ?Grid Square? ?DISTANCE
?
DISTANCE, on the right, is always of interest for me on any given day.? ?
?
All of the above information emits from a xml data query made by DXKeeper and all for some tiny payment.?
?
I obtain a 5 year subscription which worked out to be not much a year (I don't recall but even for my very tight budget it is not a big deal).
?
I hope this helps.? I personally think xml data subscription is required for any ham operator if you are even slightly interested in who your most recent contact was AND enabling a log with some detailed information so you can look back later.??
?
Like I say, I am always excited to make contact 5000 miles away.? ?Still seems magical and my shows the magic via the xml query from DXKeeper to qrz.com.??
?
Thank you for reading.??
