Amidon doesn't make anything, they are a vendor selling stuff they don't know anything about. Fair-Rite is the manufacturer nearly all ferrite cores that are useful to hams, and they are the inventor of #31 ferrite cores around 2003, and the chemical formulation is unique to them.
