Hi everyone!
I've been experiencing a problem when using WSJT-X or JTDX and DX Commander.??
I've been searching around, and have found that this is not an unheard of issue, but haven't see a particular answer, so thought I'd post the question.
Setup:
Windows 10 PC
Latest version of WSJT-X , JTDX and DX Commander?
microKEYER 2R+
ICOM IC-7610
ONLY when I'm using "Fake it", WSJT-X and especially JTDX - are unstable.? Mostly, this is when in "F/H" mode, but it occurs when not in "F/H", so "Fake it" is the area of concern, not 'F/H", I would guess.
JTDX is unstable to the point of being unusable in this mode, although both are solid when not utilizing "Fake it".
When in this mode, one of the following will invariably occur.? I'll use WSJT-X for the example.
- When calling a station in F/H mode, my transmissions calling the DX will work perfectly, until I am given the initial report.? When it is my station's turn to transmit, WSJT-X will indicate that I should be transmitting, but will not put the radio into transmit mode.
- As above, but sometimes in a subsequent, repeat transmission of my report.
- As above, but in addition, the frequency that the transceiver was shifted to will remain when WSJT-X goes back to receive mode, and not be returned to the proper RX frequency.
Any of the following actions will clear the bad behavior - usually for only one sequence, but sometimes subsequent ones - but which one works at any point in time seems completely random:
- In WSJT-X: Hitting the "Halt TX" button and then "Enable TX" button.
- In WSJT-X: Hitting the "Stop" button, followed by "Monitor" and then "TX"?
- Switching to DX Commander, and hitting the "TX" button followed by the "RX" button.
In WSJT-X's Settings:
? ?Rig: DX Lab Suite Commander
? ?PTT Method: CAT
? ?Mode: None
? ?Split Operation: Fake it
In Commander's Configuration:
? ?Radio: IC-7610
? ?Command Interval: 200
? ?Interrogation: CHECKED
? ?Verify CI-V command acceptance: UNCHECKED
? ?Sync transceiver frequencies before logging or spotting: UNCHECKED
? ?Data sub-mode: D2?
These are the settings that seem applicable - I didn't want to clog this up with unnecessary stuff.
Intuitively, it "feels" as if WSJT-X is losing its handshake with Commander, and they get out of sync.?
I've seen discussion threads here where it was suggested to use "Rig" for "Split Operation" but have also seen that it adds extra delay.? ?I have not changed any settings, as it would seem almost random to do that at this point, and I'd prefer to understand what is happening first.
Thanks for any help that can be provided.
