It is so strange that you mention about those tapes of Hugh Prather's.
Actually I used to get them every week. The whole time he had "The
Dispensible Church" and I just recently gave them to this group that I was
writing about. Of which they were most grateful.

Actually I am indeed grateful for Hugh Prather for having it almost as
his theme... that, not to try to hear an inner voice, or hear inner guildance,
but simply still the mind as much as possible, whenever faced with a decision
and then "follow your peaceful preference." And this has indeed been a
practice of mine, which has simplified my life considerably.?
