Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
Oh boy, what an enthusiasm ? Well, the culprit was a resistor of 270 Ohms connected to R59 (to the upper lead in the schematic) and the chassis. Hence pulling down the voltage of a.o. the cathode

QRP input to L-4B and L7 Amps
Hello to the group How much output power does the L-4B? or L7 produce with QRP (1-5 watts) input on all bands using good tubes. Thanks. Chuck

Re: T-4XC, R-4C, MS-4, MN-4, AC-4 Manuals
Matt, I fully agree with Richard. I ordered these CDs for download last week as well and it sped up the problem finding in my T-4XC. Send a mail to Carol (Garey K0OAH's XYL) and she will instruct how

Please tell us which resistor in case someone else has the same difficulty. -- Richard Knoppow Los Angeles WB6KBL SKCC 19998

Re: T-4XC, R-4C, MS-4, MN-4, AC-4 Manuals
Another recommendation for Garey's CD's. They are a must have for Drake gear. He has been SK for a while now but I still miss him.

Re: Replace Shure 444 Mic Cable
I have used Belden and Carol cables for years and have never had a problem with them. This was in a sound reinforcement situation, stage work, outdoor events, etc. The cables stand up much, much

Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
Very good work Rob!? Great to save another one. I suspect that resistor was in the mixer cathode as you suspected. I think that rig might have been used with an external transverter where they just

Re: T-4XC, R-4C, MS-4, MN-4, AC-4 Manuals
Matt: I think your best source of information that goes well beyond the schematic is at K4OAH.com. Garey is now SK (Feb 2018), but his wife Carole is still selling Garey's "CD's", which now come as

Re: L4B Vernier Drive - different question
While not a Drake, But has the same effect. On my SB-220 I put those small verniers on both the Plate and Load. I'd hate to tune the amp without them. Even manually never mind "By The Numbers" Joe

As to straight cable, I've used the cable from Heil with success for years.

John, Be cautious about cheap quality import cords as well as local cords that are stiff. 73, Evan, K9SQG

Re: Replace Shure 444 Mic Cable
Oh... And these are straight cables. Coiled cords are much more expensive and harder to work with. W7RY -- Thanks and 73, Jim W7RY

Re: Replace Shure 444 Mic Cable
Any modern microphone cable will work fine. Its 2 conductor (red and blue wire) with a shield. Just like the 444 stock cable. Its also the same size. Easiest way is to by a mic cord with XLR

Replace Shure 444 Mic Cable
The rubber insulation is cracked. Would like to continue to use the mic as it still has great audio. Appreciate any recommendations on sourcing a coiled cable to match otherwise straight cable ok.
