Re: Drake LA-4 Amplifier
Ah, you looked at the link not the pictures. :D I examined the photos carefully and even saved local copies for posterity. Maybe you need new glasses? 73 -Jim NU0C "Rick W4XA via groups.io"

Re: Drake LA-4 Amplifier
You must be looking at a different amp. I've seen a lot of CB amps over the years and this ain't one. It is actually fairly well designed, with plate current metering and a tapped six band tank coil

Re: TR5 steering diode?
Thanks! Mine had a 5 amp and I was just about to head out the door to find some 8 amps. Ed

Re: TR5 steering diode?
One of those fuses saved my dumb posterior when I hooked up a TR7 backwards. I have no idea why I would have done such a stupid thing, except that I was talking to the owner at the time! Steve Wedge,

Howard: Yes, I have one of those LA-7's as well - never used it. Don't have a tanker ship! Pic attached of "LA-4" on steroids! Not sure if this is what the LA-4's all looked like or not. There's a LOT

Re: TR5 steering diode?
Ed, I had to go to the large, original pull-out schematic to verify the fuse size. In fact, it's 5A, not 8A. Every other electronic schematic I checked didn¡¯t have the resolution needed to verify

Check the suicide diode on the same board to make sure it didn't short. If you are lucky your finals will have survived. 73 -Jim NU0C "Ed KG5UN via groups.io" <maikranze@...> wrote:

Re: TR5 steering diode?
Start with the PS fuse and especially the internal fuse on the INSIDE of the TR5¡¯s rear panel. You¡¯ll need to remove the cover, and possibly the bottom plate for access. The fuse is 3AG 8-Amp.

That LA-4 (linear) has an amazing front panel.? Wish I could make a Drake panel like that! The perforated cabinet edge takes away points though.? But nice work overall, I like the "modular"

TR5 steering diode?
Just unboxed my new to me TR5. Hooked it up using the user supplied power cord and nothing. Checked the power cord (yes I know I should have done this first) and the polarity is reversed. Please tell
