Re: 1-A on eBay
Lyndon VE7TFX
I do hope it was a pristine example. When prices are at the top,This is rapidly drifting off topic, but in this spirit, what are RV-75s going for these days, and is there anything close to a settled price for one in "good, not necessarily pristine" condition? K6OXN mentioned he recently picked one up for "a reasonable price" but didn't say what that was. Then there was the January fiasco with the $3500 dollar sale (which I can't find when I try to search eBay's sold items history?). And people are constantly harping about how they want one of these. And yet a couple of weeks ago one went up for sale on eBay. It garnered about 30 watchers, and attracted all of seven bids from three bidders. I was expecting a full-on pileup at the end of that auction as everyone tried to outbid everyone else. And ... nada. Where was everyone?!? It ended up selling for ~US$530. A surprisingly low price IMO considering the pent up demand for these. I don't understand this supply and demand marketplace :-) --lyndon |

Re: In search of a new TR7
Hi Joe, I'm in the process of assisting with the liquidation of three different estates and there are at least three TR7 transceivers in that group, one of which is being restored right now by the gentleman in Tennessee I can't remember his name or call sign at the moment. The other two I have yet to check out I don't know anything about their operational condition, would be happy to discuss with you. The FCC required them to be printed upside-down. That way, they didn't have to waste time turning them around when they "visited" the shack to inspect the logbook. It was a bit difficult writing the entries upside-down and backwards but I suppose folks got used to it.

Re: Another TR7 Journey begins
It sounds like you are on the right track. AA119 diodes are available if you look around. Google and eBay turn up multiple hits but caveat emptor. Buy from reputable sellers and avoid anything from China. As I mentioned I think I would use Schottky signal diodes for replacement.

So looks like I need to replace CR2001 and CR2002 with working diodes.? Searching through my junk box I found two glass case diodes that unfortunately have no markings left.? I tested them with a 10K resistor and 13.8 volts and they showed 13.8V one way and .29 volts the other way which I'm pretty sure means they are germanium diodes.? So now I need to decide if I want to try those or order something that has a known value.? But I think (hope) I'm closing in on the ALC issue! 73, Bill NZ0T |
