Re: Another TR7 Journey begins
Your target is 5.645, not 5.656. Note that you must start at section 3-1 and proceed through all of the frequency adjustments in proper order for it to work right. 73 -Jim NU0C "Bill NZ0T"

Re: Another TR7 Journey begins
Started alignment to day all went well until the 8.05 osciillator adjustment.? C1030 adjusts fro 436576 all the way in to 5.6584 all the way out.? According to the alignment procedure that means
Re: RV75 Issues: Part 4
Some useful videos on You Tube re uisng a nanoVNA to characterize/test crystals. I see now how to do this by lifting one end of C236. I'll give this a try. RB

Re: Another TR7 Journey begins
I had a bit of time today and checked CR2001 and CR2002 and both are good.? Might have a chance to try an alignmnet tommorow.

Re: Drake TR-7 - A repair journey
Sounds like lingering Molexia somewhere. The DR7 can be particularly sensitive to connector issues due to the usual method of pulling and reinstalling it. Any time you have a board out it a good idea

Re: RV75 Issues: Part 4
Rick¡. if you get some free time, how about posting some photos of the insides of the RV75? I¡¯ve never seen what magic lurks under the covers of one mike, wb8vge

Re: RV75 Issues: Part 4
I don't think I have ever heard of a varactor fail anywhere, but I suppose it is possible considering that this unit appears to have suffered some sort of over voltage event. Which in part is what

Jim, Thanks! I fear this may be one of those occasions where the best course of action is do nothing / just live with the consequences of someone else's butchery:-( I did try to move the headless

Re: RV75 Issues: Part 4
Jim, Thanks for the troubleshooting tips. I do have a NanoVNA and will eventually get around to checking the crystal if this proves necessary. I'd like to eliminate other possible causes first, as

Re: RV75 Issues: Part 4
Do you have, or know anyone who has, a NanoVNA or similar? That can be used to check the crystal. There are actually two varactors. CR216 is controlled from the digital board, CR217 is the RIT

Re: Drake TR-7 - A repair journey
If it is not cross threaded you may be able to tease the broken stub out with a dental pick or other sharp pointy thing. Or if you had the proper tools, very carefully drill it out. I don't know of

Re: Drake TR-7 - A repair journey
Jim, Thanks for the link to the mods. That was the ref. I had been looking for. I will check the decoupling and add an additional wire into my DC power lead. I'm wondering what to do with the chassis

Brent - Drake PS7 Power Supply used two (2) 15,000 mFd, 30 VDC electrolytic capacitors Let¡¯s start with the Datasheets (17 pages) for Mallory Electrolytic Capacitors (circa 1980s - 1990s)
Re: All bent out of shape (3-500z) - now shock sensor value question
Of course I know that it is a triode. No shorts were measured. But this tube makes noises that a good tube does not make. I would not trust it as far as I could throw the amp it was in. 73 -Jim NU0C

Re: All bent out of shape (3-500z) - now shock sensor value question
Remember this is a triode. There is roughly a 1/2 inch separation between the inside face of the plate cylinder and the grid. There is a tiny distance between the grid and the filament and that is

Drake PS7 Filtercap. Spec.
Hello I am interested in a data sheet for the 2 pcs. 15000 MFD electrolytic capacitors in the PS7 power supply. Mallory Type CGR. 318-0356 235-8118G. Is someone able to help ? Thanks in advance. Br.

Not even going to try with the one I found. While I don't see anything rolling around inside the envelope, I do definitely hear mechanical noises from inside the plate structure when the tube is
