Re: Discount shipping services?
My wife and I have been using Pirate ship for over a year for shipping thanks to a post by Steve wedge.? A very legitimate service that saves a significant amount of money. Have not shipped on Ebay

Re: Discount shipping services?
I¡¯ve been able to bypass ePays shipping by sending the item via Pirate Ship or FedEx. Then copy and Paste into the ¡°add tracking information¡± on the sold item. EBay does not have the polybag or

Re: Discount shipping services?
I concur with Steve & Bill on both points. Pirate Ship has been great... multiple packages over the last several months as I've helped liquidate 3 ham radio estates in 2024, including one lost package

Re: Discount shipping services?
Pirate Ship is very much legitimate but you will have a hell of a time circumventing eBay¡¯s shipping system. I finally gave up and let them use their own (also discounted) shipping rates. Steve

Re: CS7
I was fortunate enough to acquire a late-numbered C Line, with all the filters, an MN-2000 an etek digital display and a complete C-4, for $600, in 1986. That was a bargain even then! I sold the tuner

Discount shipping services?
I'd like to move some stuff along on Ebay or QTH, but the shipping costs can be deal breakers.? There are some discount services like Pirateship.com and others, and they claim to offer discounts to

Re: R4C rough tuning
Jay: What is the serial number of your R-4C? There are some very special "gotcha's" to pay attention to on the late "metal-geared" PTO (and as Steve said it still has two plastic gears in it) should

That would do it though it's a strange failure mode. I'd have thought someone put in the wrong bulb, but it looks like the original construction (albeit burned). Somewhere in the world, there's a pile

Re: CS7
Those should be easy fixes. The circuit is basically a stepper motor controller and it¡¯s all old-fashioned parts that are easy to get. The bulb holder looks like the ones found in TR7¡¯s. More

I saw this on eBay just now. I believe the circuit is identical to that of the C-4 antenna switch. Looks nice and cheap for its rarity.

Re: R4C rough tuning
I agree with everything Peter has listed except that I use mineral spirits for the ball bearings and their race. I will add that you won¡¯t get the PTO to be as light and smooth as the earlier

Re: R4C rough tuning
Jay; There are many reasons that can contribute to "grabbing" or "sticky" tuning on the C-line dials. Often there can be more than one reason. Full teardown is always my choice but I understand that

Re: R4C rough tuning
My guess is that the vernier drive has a lubricant that has hardened over the years. ? Same could be true of the PTO screw. ?Let's hear what the experts say...

R4C rough tuning
Group, In an R4C the PTO is electronically stable but that 'silky smooth' tuning is not happening. It takes extra force to tune the PTO (as compared to my T4XC) and feels like something grabbing or
