Re: T-4XC, R-4C, MS-4, MN-4, AC-4 Manuals
Another recommendation for Garey's CD's. They are a must have for Drake gear. He has been SK for a while now but I still miss him.

Re: Replace Shure 444 Mic Cable
开云体育? I have used Belden and Carol cables for years and have never had a problem with them.? This was in a sound reinforcement situation, stage work, outdoor events, etc.? The cables stand up much, much better than anything Chinese or what you might get at your local music store.? It’s also less expensive, although you do have to put your own connectors on. ? After hours of wire tracing and elimination of possible defective components, I finally ended up at a..... stupid mod made by a previous owner for whatever reason.? One single resistor that screwed up the behaviour of various functions of the T-4XC.? @Gary: thanks for the tip!

One other beautiful Drake rig preserved for the future :)

Re: T-4XC, R-4C, MS-4, MN-4, AC-4 Manuals
Matt: I think your best source of information that goes well beyond the schematic is at K4OAH.com.? Garey is now SK (Feb 2018), but his wife?Carole is still selling Garey's "CD's", which now come as downloadable files as well.? I have had my set over 20 years and they get used often.? Garey's parts locators make finding the parts easy.? His C-line "CD" includes three of four different schematics?for the R-4C. (not sure there were too many electrical?changes for the last one at 26,000 - the PTO mechanicals were changed).? Some have noted slow response to your e-mails to Carole but be patient as I believe they will still get answered.?? There is no schematic I've ever seen for the MS-4 speaker - not much there to draw! WB4HFN (at ) has some of what you are looking for on his web site, but many are in single page downloads.? He has some full PDF's, but not too many.? Mods. dk does have some as well....but not all. 73 Peter VE7PS On Wed, Jan 3, 2024 at 6:01?AM Matthew VE3MXG <ve3mxg@...> wrote: Hi All, |

开云体育While not a Drake, But has the same effect. On my SB-220 I put those small verniers on both the Plate and Load.I'd hate to tune the amp without them. Even manually never mind "By The Numbers" Joe WB9SBD On 1/3/2024 12:50 AM, Jim VE7RF wrote:

As to straight cable, I've used the cable from Heil with success for years.

Its also the same size.Easiest way is to by a mic cord with XLR connectors on each end, and simply cut them off. Guitar center has them in stock, or ebay has 1000s of them to choose from.? The cheap cables will work fine. 73, Jim W7RY On 1/3/2024 9:19 AM, John N4YE wrote:

Re: L4B Vernier Drive - different question
It's too bad Drake did not use a 6:1 vernier on the LOAD control. They also should have used a? 0-100 across the top 180 degs of the panel marking.? ?Done that way...it's just....'dial it up by the numbers'.? ? I came up with still another method, using those 2" diam mini turns counters....which are marked 0-100? around their circumference...and count up to 10 turns. With any 6:1 vernier, it takes 3 x full revolutions? to get from min C to max C.? That's a total of 300 increments from min C to max C.? ?Again, just dial it up by the numbers. IE: make up a cheat sheet for different freqs on each band.? Makes re-tuning mere seconds.? |

Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
Rob,
To get a signal out on the band, you do need two things.? The PTO and XTAL oscillators need to be on, and the V3 mixer needs to be on.? You have correctly suspected these. I don't know for sure in the T-4XC but in the T-4X, when the transceive switch is in RCVR, the power to the PTO and XTAL oscillators are turned off. If the C is the same, that would indicate to me that the transceive switch or wiring has a problem. The cathode of V3 is grounded by the transmit relay with the same wiper that is used for the MUTE line to the R-4.? It sounds like your cathode is always grounded, possibly a relay or wiring problem. Has this T-4XC ever worked for you?? If not, I'd look for suspicious mods.? It would seem odd to me to have a double failure as indicated by the above. Does your second T-4XC work correctly?? If so, the R-4 and cables is all good. 73, Gary WB6OGD |
