Re: Output power
You¡¯re welcome. Remember that the transmitter interface is different between the two. All TR-3/TR-4 sets do not have a reduced output TUNE mode. When you tune up in CW, that¡¯s your power out and

Re: Drake 7 Series Cabinet Paint
Steve, I didn¡¯t see a reply to your query from Gary on this. I used Krylon satin black spray initially but used Rustoleum satin black for the final roll on finish. -- 73 John?N9FCA

Re: Output power
Thanks so much Steve, I think you¡¯re exactly right that I¡¯m just seeing the reduction in power due to being in the tune position. Both transmitters are new (to me) and I¡¯m still familiarizing

Re: Output power
Firstly, in TUNE mode, you will not get full output with the T-4X. The screen voltage is reduced in TUNE mode. You need to put it into CW mode to see your power out. Fresh tubes should provide 140W or

Output power
I have a TR-4Cw and a T-4XB. Both max at about ~100 watts in cw/tune. Curious what others are seeing, I know the transmitters are rated for more but it¡¯s obviously old equipment. I have some NOS

Yeah.? He even had tube "kits" for the TR-4C and others.?? When you click on the actual links to "Buy Now", it takes you to eBay. And for anyone looking for 12JB6's for a TR-3, he has 4 left? @

Re: 2-B Gain Setting
I notice that the manual seems to be slightly unorganized but not bad. It's all there and it's not that many pages so that's fine. Like I said, I really need to reread the entire manual. I wish I

on the rear, next to the SENSITIVITY adjustment is the S METER CAL (R67). You turn down the RF Gain as much as possible and set the meter for S9+60 or the right peg -- whichever comes first :-) I

Re: 2-B Gain Setting
If you can set all three within the adjustment ranges of the pots then you have a good set. One of the 2-B's that I'm in the process of completing had an RF GAIN pot that was at 28M (surprisingly, my
