Re: Drake 2-B Tuning Shaft Bent???
I¡¯ve seen a bent shaft in my travels. The three sets I¡¯m working on now are all straight. Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent from Proton Mail for iOS

Re: 2B S meter
Ken, Try sliding a small "refrigerator" magnet around on the case of the meter. If you can find a spot where it zeros the meter, glue or tape it on there. If it works, it's an easy, no risk fix. Jim,

Re: Drake 2-B Tuning Shaft Bent???
When your ONE job is to deliver a 4" long 1/4" steel shaft without bending it..... :-) I agree, tt's hard to picture it being bent after being installed. John

Re: 2-B 50kHz Alignment Question
Check the values of C50 through C52. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check the resistors around the tuned circuit, as well. Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent

Re: 2-B 50kHz Alignment Question
Cranking up the output of the generator helped and I can hear it better on any/all band settings (was only hearing it well on one of the AUX positions but can hear it now regardless of the bandswitch

Yes, the SK is correct, but the sale and mailing of his CD's has been handled by a family member since then, up until now, apparently. I ordered and received some since he became SK. Tom K0SN

?I, too, suspect a slightly bent 2-B tuning shaft may be a factory installation of a defective part, occurring at some tiny percentage of production output. I cannot imagine any kind of damage or

Re: 2-B 50kHz Alignment Question
Make sure that you have it on the right pin. I used about a 1V signal and had no trouble. 73, Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent from Proton Mail for iOS

Re: 2B S meter
The S meter in the 2-B is identical to all of the S meters used in the R-4 series, and they¡¯re mechanically and electrically identical to the plate meter. Normally, these meters rest at S-1 or 0 mA

Re: Drake 2-B Tuning Shaft Bent???

2B S meter
Is it normal for the 2B S meter to sit at about S3 with power off? I can zero it OK with power on, but it always rests at S3 when the power is turned off. Ken, VE3FIT
