Re: DR7 fitting partial success.

I have a Clearspeech Base that is a magic box and I also run a JPS NIR-12. Have used a Timewave DSP-9 with good results but the JPS and Clearspeech rock.

Re: DR7 fitting partial success.

Hi Steve

I did the same, went over the alignment again because of all the pulling about.

It hadn't shifted a jot.

Good luck with yours and keep us posted how you get on.

Re: DR7 fitting partial success.

Hi Peter

Thank you for your kind words and yes hopefully my exploits will help someone else.

I have been using the TR7 side by side with my Yaesu FTDX 3000 during the contest this weekend the Drake has the edge in sensitivity but the Yaesu has the edge with selectivity, but only just.

It beats the TR7 on QRN reduction with its DNR which is quite spectacular..

However an external DSP unit in line with an external speaker on the TR7 will cure that.

The thing was that the TR7 held it's own under very busy conditions.

Kind Regards

That's odd, I had no clearance problems at all with the German board.

Re: TR7 insulating paper

The fish paper goes across the top of the PTO lamp metal and prevents the DR7 display solder pads from touching that grounded surface.

Re: TR-4C audio hum

Jim,

Thank you, I had read that part in the manual after I posted my question.? I'll see what I can find out.? Been a ham since 1986, but just now starting to learn how things work so it may take me a while to figure it out, but I am all in.

Tony,

There is a good chance the AC3 needs rebuilt.? Thank you for the suggestion.

Steve,

I hope it isn't a tube, but if it is, which one(s) could be suspect?

Thank you all,

Re: 3 files uploaded #file-notice

What new meter of any quality is cheap these days?

I managed to find new meters on the Bay of the same style for my PS-2000 a while back and just made new scales for them using the "METER" software.? They look terrific now.? The originals were working OK but the plastic housings were badly yellowed and would not clean up.

Fortunately all my Drake meters are working fine.? I did have to sub in a Plate Meter from a TR-4C parts rig into my TR-6 a while back due to the infamous "bouncy meter" syndrome.

73 and thanks for the info.

This could also be a bad tube in that chain.? I've heard of filaments touching the cathode that can cause this.

Re: TR-4C audio hum

There's your clue. 80 and 20 do not use heterodyne premix crystals. Look around the pre mix / het osc V1 and the crystals. Check grounds, look for excessive ripple on the B+.
