Re: New to me TR7

Guys, Thanks for all the great responses! I can't wait to get into this. I'm the type that if I don't have time to atleast put in several hours over a
couple of days, I don't start. That's why it'll be a couple weeks until I get started on it. I'm still gathering?opinions etc.

Yes I do have a service manual. It's digital, not a book. I have repaired stereos, and just yesterday a 2 meter radio by cleaning plugs on circuit boards. I remember in the 60's
and 70's my Dad taught?me... if you're fixing a tube radio, first thing?is to take out the tubes and reinsert them and see what happens. I can't tell you guys how
many times that worked! Same idea with the plug in circuit boards. Second simple thing I've seen many times is cleaning a band switch and/or other switches like craig mentioned about the PBT switches etc.

My gut feeling with this is that it won't?need much?to get it going. When I first got licensed one of my first ham friends had a TR7 so there's always been a place in my heart
for these and always thought it would be nice to operate one. It took 30+ years but here it is! Yes even at 67 years old (or is it young) I still am like a kid at Xmas time
with a new radio!

You will find info on a homebrew board extractor here:

5V for the DR7 comes from the two 7805 regulators mounted to the chassis wall. However if the PLL locks and you can hear any signal at all the 5V from the PS Board is OK.
