Is the solid state VFO and buffer in the TR-4 more stable than
the TR-3 tube VFO, or
was it changed to save a little space, heat, and power?
Thanks,

One of the mysteries, I guess. There were some
developments over their time that can only be guessed at ¡ª like
my ¡°TR-34¡± (wish I¡¯d kept it) that was a TR-3 that was converted
so well that it had to have been a factory job. It had
everything a TR-4 has but still had a 6AU6 PTO and soupcan
filters. It even had 6JB6 finals. I have photos somewhere but I
believe I uploaded them years ago.?
I didn¡¯t have the space at the time to keep it ?it
had great audio!
