Well..... there never really was a TR-4B labeled as such, at least not that I am aware of.? The NE2 shows up in TR-4 #27,000, which had its debut in early to mid-1967 per Ron's serial number database.? The B-line came out early in 1968, again per Ron's database.? (There is another error there with the 1st T-4XB listed).? So Gary is correct in that the TR-4 with the neon lamp is tied to B-line production.? Maybe a TR-4"B"?
There is a labeled TR-44B though - the T-4B/R-4B communications station.

And you must be looking at a TR-4B not a TR-4.? The B is the only version with the neon.
The neon indicates which PTO is active when using the external RV-4B.
