This happens more often than you know.? In 1988, production engineering made TWO changes to Chrysler's A604/41TE FWD 4 speed auto trans, because it saved them about $50 (IIRC) in production.? That change cost over $2,000,000,000 in warranty repairs and wasn't caught until mid 1990.? Mr Iacocca wasn't happy.? It got reversed, but the bad publicity dogged them for a log time on that trans.
