Everything I have ever seen had the ¡°A¡± or ¡°1¡± wafer at the front panel end of the switch.

I have an ulterior motive. Another "old radio" project. It's a
Collins KWM-2. I made up a circuit to fix its abysmal CW support.
That little board mounts behind the VFO. To activate it, I need a signal
that's grounded for CW mode. There is an unused lug on wafer "G" of the mode
switch that will supply just that.
