Hi Guys
My two cents on the root cause is that maybe one of the capacitors in the old can was short circuited. Placing a functioning capacitor in parallel will still result in a short circuit. After replacing the can capacitor (and removing the temporary capacitors) the circuitry was repaired.?

I¡¯ll lay claim to having been an engineering tech. I worked as a non-degreed engineer in several gigs. Design work was never my forte. Testing is where I did a lot of work and I really had a knack for blowing up things :-)

Being an engineer means that you know enough to know you don't know everything.
