This is where it's good to (re-) mention PirateShip, where you can save big bucks (50%?) over counter rates for the big shippers. USPS discounts are pretty hefty too.? No idea if they offer international shipping but probably worth checking.

I agree with you re: Ebay shippers from Japan .? I never had any customer feedback on how long that shipping takes, but I see things like a TS-120 or TS-180 for under $300 shipped and? I know that's a fair deal.
