Re: Is there a source for the Sherwood R4C mods #FS-4A

Do not know the answer to your question.? Will ask when I see him at Winterfest in January.?
But the R4C had a large audio transistor, chassis?mounted,? that when (not if) it went out the power supply burned up.? This has happened?to me twice and both times it was great to have Rob's prebuilt power supply ready to go as a substitute for the old one.? With that in place the radio are perking along after?+ 30 years .

Good Luck.

Hi Jim,
I am very interested in any design info you could share with me.

As I mentioned to Gary, I have been reading through the info I found in the Files section, however, I haven't found any of what I believe to be Rob's designs. Many designs by several hams, but the big problem is that most are 20-30 yrs old and are based around parts that are no longer available. So, your designs seem doable since the parts are available.

One of the questions I have is why Rob redesigned the entire power supply board when it appears that all that was needed was the change over to an IC regulator for the +12 line. Maybe I am missing something. I saw that a company named Hayseed sells custom electrolytic caps for the R4C. They are expensive so I would be very interested in the power supply design that you came up with.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
