Re: GM300 & DINAH
And finally, this is the accessory port configuration I'm using on my Motorola? 73 Mike KB3KAV? These are the simple USB? settings I'm using, I have the TX level, 3 & 4, and the DSP level, 7, set at 900 On Sun, Apr 21, 2024, 10:45 AM Mike - K5MAP via <k5map=[email protected]> wrote: I would like to connect my DINAH to a Motorola GM300 VHF mobile radio.? Re: GM300 & DINAH
Good morning Mike, you want the Motorola 16 pin mini din packet adapter, I'll check the acc connector settings when I get home later. 73 Mike KB3KAV? On Mon, Apr 22, 2024, 12:22 AM Mike - K5MAP via <k5map=[email protected]> wrote: Mike, |
Re: GM300 & DINAH
Mike,
Much thanks for the info... I looked at the link you provided but not sure which adapter to order.? There are two listed for the Motorola:

Re: GM300 & DINAH
I ordered the adapter from? and used the cable that came with my DINAH, you'll need to make a few changes to the 16 pin configuration in the programming software, I've had mine up for months with zero issues On Sun, Apr 21, 2024, 10:45 AM Mike - K5MAP via <k5map=[email protected]> wrote: I would like to connect my DINAH to a Motorola GM300 VHF mobile radio.? Re: Audio distortion.
Just as a reminder, DINAH is primarily intended for use with radios that have the "standard" packet (i.e. data) 6 pin miniDIN interface.? The fixed attenuation used in DINAH is selected so that the TX and RX level settings in HamVOIP are about mid-range.
Our PAUL interface is intended for radios that do not have this packet interface.? It has potentiometers and pads to add resistors to reduce audio levels.? It also has numerous solder bridge jumpers to accomodate PTT and COS interface requirements. However, it does not have any fiiltering or audio amplification capability.? Please look at the URI's from Masters Communications, Repeater Builder, DMK and Techno by George for URIs with more capability. Steve - N8AR |

Re: Audio distortion.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSomething I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is that you can adjust the input and output sensitivity for both 1200 and 9600 on the radio itself. This is only accessible using programming software, not from the front panel. I decided to use the 9600 baud output of my radio for various reasons, so I don't want to give you exact values, since this changes everything, but I found that putting the sensitivity of both input and output closer to the middle than the top end (there are 8 values each) yielded a better signal-to-noise ratio on the audio path, while allowing greater headroom and less distortion. On HamVoIP's SimpleUSB, I run the DSP level very low (around 200) then compensate for this much lower audio by cranking the TS Channel A mix level. Changing this to Linear will essentially drop that out of the chain entirely, which is also an option.

Re: Audio distortion.
wow, I thought that it was all just me.? I finally gave up on the Dinah device and installed a DMK-URIx in its place and was happy with those audio results. Audio distortion.
The audio from my node sounds overdriven and distorted. The Dinah doesn¡¯t have a physical audio gain pot but the information on the site indicates ¡°includes optional jumpers and parts locations to permit the builder to insert fixed attenuation in the audio paths.¡± sadly no instructions on how this is done. The simpleusb-tune-menu application has no discernible on the audio quality nor does ¡°reduce audio telemetry volume¡± within Asterisk.
What does work is changing the baud rate to 9600 on my Kenwood ?TM-V71. The audio is very clear but very low. It makes no difference if the trace is cut or not. Any advice would be very welcome. 73 de VA7EQ |
Re: DTMF Control Not Working
Steve, Thanks for the reply.? I did a bit more digging and found a document on the groups,io site regarding DTMF tones.? Interesting enough?before I had a chance to investigate what the problem was, it corrected itself.? But I did go in and recheck?the DTMF levels and set it to where it was balanced for voice as well.? Targeting about 3.5kHz.? Seems ok now.? But I still do not know what was corrected to make it start working.? Strange. ? DTMF Control Not Working
Any DTMF tones being sent to the node through the DINAH board do not see to be making it to the Pi for control.? There is bidirectional audio working fine.
The rig is? a Kenwood TM-V708. >? DINAH > RPi Does the DINAH board strip out the DTMF tones or is there an additional setup? to allow them to pass or be heard by the node. Thanks for any advice or assistance. |

Hi
Steve, To be honest.. I don't really know what I did. I just fiddled with the different settings and all of a sudden it started to work. Perseverance it think it's called.. LOL Cheers. Craig. |
