Re: FT-8900 / CTCSS Setup / Dinah-C
开云体育Someone correct if I'm wrong, but I don't think the FT-8900 has a way to adjust the logic for that behavior. I have the same problem with a Kenwood TM-D700A. However, I know that some other Yaesu radios, like the FT-M100, has an option to only send COS when the squelch is open, not just on carrier, as does the TM-V71A and TM -G710.
One possible solution may be to not use the radio's CTCSS decode, and use usbradio instead of simpleusb, using it's DSP to detect CTCSS. This will only work, however, if you use a 9600 output (discriminator, not AF-stage) from the radio with the squelch open, and this will most likely work much better on ASL3 than HamVoIP. By default, the? DINAH looks for input on pin 4, which is 1200.
This won't provide baseband audio, which you need for the
DSP-based CTCSS decode of usbradio to work. When I am next at that location, I plan
to convert my Kenwood TM-D700A remote base node to ASL3 on a thin
client, away from HamVoIP on a rPi3 model B, so I can do exactly
that.

FT-8900 / CTCSS Setup / Dinah-C
I can’t get my node to accept only ctcss traffic. It works fine, but it will pass traffic even without a ctcss tone.
The FT-8900 is set with ctcss enabled with ENC/DEC. I am using the main band. The packet speed is set to 1200. The packet band is set to main. I have trimmed the data connector to ensure that it is seated correctly in the port. The simpleusb-tune settings are: (H) plfilter= enabled (J) cos from= usb (L) ctcssfrom= usb I have tried to change these parameters with many variations with no success. These settings work fine on my other node that is using an FT-100. The node with the FT-100 will only accept traffic with ctcss tone as desired. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Re: Suggestion for Terminal Program for Ipad
I used to use Termius before I retired a couple years ago Did everything I needed. I liked Cathode also, but afaik not available in App Store for a while. It's been a while, but IIRC, when I set up my TM-D700A as a node radio, in simpleusb, I set the following: PTT: active low COSFROM: USB I also changed the pin sensitivity in the radio, because I didn't like the defaults for input and output. This can only be done from software, either the? old Kenwood programmer or RTSystems. HTH N2DYI On 6/8/2024 2:52 AM, Mikes Hotmail via groups.io wrote:
Hi I just received my Dinah USB-C board and for the life of me I cannot figure out the programming (set up) menu for the Kenwood TM-700 Radio to make it work. It is not communicating with Dinah has anyone having any experience with the set up and programming. Thank you. |

Re: Tm 700
开云体育Hello Radiotech: If you mean the TM-D700, it works fine with a DINAH
out-of-the-box, assuming you want 1200 baud output from the radio,
pin 4, not 9600 on pin 5. There is a jumper to change that
behavior, but I do the same thing through an external cable that
was wired so that pin 4 crosses over to pin 5 on the cable itself. I am using a TM-D700A and a DINAH for an Allstarlink remote base radio. The only thing I don't like is that you can't change the logic
behind what the data port does with squelch. If you use the 9600
baud output, which provides discriminator for audio coming from
the radio, CTCSS decoding doesn't work at all. It might as well
not be on. If you use the 1200 baud output on pin4, COS will still open with
carrier. So, if CTCSS is on and the wrong or no tone is passed,
COS will happen, but there will be no audio. You can change the
behavior on other radios, like the TM-V71A, such that COS follows
squelch rather than carrier, or BUSY as the TM-V71A calls it, but
not on the D700A, at least without hardware mods. BTW, if anyone
has done a hardware mod to change this behavior of a D700A, I'd
love to hear from you.
Also, if you plan on using it with HamVoIP/ASL in linktolink
configuration, I've discovered that it still sends COS even when
it is transmitting. So I have an in-line board with a relay that
cuts COS off when something is sent to the radio from the network.
This, too, is not a problem with the TM-V71A if you set it to
follow squelch.
Other than that, it works well.

Re: TM-D710 Compatibility
开云体育Are you referring to the six pin minidin port on the D-710?The DINAH works fine with that supporting the PTT signal. Make sure J3 on the DINAH is open so COS does not disable the sound driver on the computer. A 6 pin to 6 pin cable works fine.
