Q&A - Marking Vehicles.
I normally throw magnets on my car for marking, haven't heard of any issues from that before but since this is the template would you prefer I do this instead? I can probably make the magnet sit in those corners instead if that works. I also have not my call sign next to my assignment name and I'm unsure why I'd be running someone else's call on APRS. Thanks, Miranda

Q&A - Final Hours. Marking Vehicles.
Good afternoon. We are confident everyone has reviewed the event data and is ready to go. We have gotten all the information we believe we will get. At this point, you should have had all your questions asked and we will have answered. At this point, we may have someone that has a last minute reason to drop out, or someone that may have had plans change and are now available. Be sure to check the assignment sheet regularly. When changes need to be made, they update within a minute or two on the site (be sure to refresh your browser). There are some volunteers we need to make sure they have done the following: - Joined this group (no individual emails to be sent) - Changed their display name on this site to include Name and Callsign. We cannot identify most of you by your email address. We don¡¯t want spammers, and others would like to know who is messaging the group. - Signed the waiver - Actually signed up. We have individuals that assumed getting on Groups.io signed them up. ¡ª¡ª¡ª With the heavy rain today, prepare for muddy rest stops, road debris, soft road shoulders. Mosquitos¡ For those that are on the route, we require you to have your vehicle marked with your tactical assignment. This helps to be identified by MS staff and volunteers, as well as served agencies (watch your traffic habits). You should also have an APRS tracker. This information should also be displayed. Locations: - Front windshield. Upper corner of passenger side. - Rear windshield. Lower driver¡¯s side. - Rear side windows each side. Static windows preferred. Attached are excellent chalk markers to do so. They are water resistant. Yet wipe off with a paper towel.

Incidents - Report Form
Good morning. Will notice embedded in the Com Plan a section that has an incident report (2 pages). You will also find as you read the information there and in the Emergency Response Plan, there is a protocol to enter the incident information into a portal called ¡°Clear Sight¡±. We as communicators do not have access to that portal. However, an incident necessitates us to complete the ¡°Incident Report¡± form as completely as possible. Gathering forensic data to best describe what happened, as well as possibly the cause. I¡¯ve attached screenshots of that form. The native file resides in the documents section under Tactical Files and also The public service standing folder. Reminder: No medical or personal information on the net. Bib numbers in place of names. The completed form(s) should be collected by either Com 1, Com 2, SAG 1, or Net Control and delivered to Alex from the MS Society located at Net Control.

Weather - Emergency Response Plan
Good morning. Possibly an active week of weather here in NTX with heavy rains as one of the hazards, this will likely leave many of the rest stops muddy. Looking ahead to the weekend, rain is possible both days. The ride is rain or shine. Attached is an excerpt from the emergency response plan found in the files section under Tactical Files.

Files
Good morning. More specific information continues to trickle in from our event coordinators. Here is what has been posted recently in the Files/Documents section: Communicator Notes: High level overview V1.3 205 - Operating Frequencies V1.0 ERP - Emergency Response Plan SAG Log - Separate ICS 214 for all logging of needed SAGS. Supplemental maps More info is coming. It will be posted on the site when available and a notification will be sent here. For those that have been with us a while, a couple things to note: - There are no MED 1/2s for medical assistance. - Ambulances (2) will be staged at Rest Stops. They have no communicators. The Rest Stop and dispatch will be their only communication support. If you have a spare course map and Google Map link of the course, it is a good idea to share with them. They often arrive with little info. - Each day at 10:00am, the 35 mile leap forward begins at Rest Stops 3. This should shorten our operational time, but at the same time, gets things going much earlier at our later rest stops. - The loop on Day 1: One lap is for 80 miles, a second lap is for 100. The loop entry closes at 11:30. - Two Tails. One will continue with the last rider on the 65, the other will be the Tail/Sweep beginning at 11:30 on the Loop. This may be modified. - Lead will not take the 80/100 split. They will take the first rider to pass after the split (essentially the 65 mile), considering this rider to be the lead regardless. This may be modified. Rest up. Review the site and Files. Typed this from my phone. Hope it makes sense.

Need more Radio Operators!
3
The MS150 is May 3/4 and I am still short of operators. My ask of those that have already signed up, please invite your fellow HAMS and point them to our signup page AND this group! My goal is to have at least 2 radio operators at all rest stops, minimum. We are still short of SAG operators and Rovers. This is a fun event and gives you the opportunity to operate "in the field", which is a great way to stretch your Emergency Communications" skill set. If you have questions, feel free to email me at j.marple(at)verizon.net James Marple KB5ZDDG MS150 Communications Chair

Volunteers Needed- MS`150 May 3 & 4
11
I am still short several volunteer positions for this event, I noticed that there are 80 "members" in this group, so thought I would see if anyone's plans have opened up so you can come try to test your capabilities and have some fun at the same time! I can also use "rovers" to operate from their personal vehicles to help by being eyes on the route and supporting our team. This is the signup link - DFW MSRide Comms - Sign Up All of the info can be found here, and I mean ALL! DFW MSRide Comms - What I Need to Know I am headed to the UK and won't be back until the day before the ride, BUT others and I will be monitoring this thread in case any questions come up about volunteering or the event. This is a great way to get that underused equipment out in the field and support a great cause. There are a number of "first timers" coming out, and we will be there to help you if you are concerned about filling a role. Hope to see more of ya'll sign up and better yet, see you the weekend of the event! James Marple KB5ZDG MS150 Communications Chairman 73'

MS150 Regrets
The Richardson Wireless Klub is sending up a high altitude balloon on May 3 and I have a payload package to fly with it. Therefore I will not be available to work this year's MS150 ride. Please take me off the assignment roster. Doug Kilgore KD5OUG My radio package will transmit flight data by voice on 146.52. At high altitude, that should be heard by all rest stops on the MS150 route. Maps and APRS Files
Good evening. Here is to hoping there are no route changes as the Google Maps (On Route page) and the APRS files for PinPoint (in Documents/Files) section have been uploaded. Mile markers: This is explained on the Route page, but I¡¯ll touch on it here. The Google map, PinPoint map, RideWithGPS all have mile marker callouts. Due to many streets/roads for which not any of us know, it is best to reference a mile marker callout (not the one on your odometer). From there you could provide a more precise street. Much like Mapsco and My3Words are designed for. Because the riders, MS staff, and comms have mile markers, we can always have a common reference point on the routes. We have been able to get it in the hands of police and first responders at times. It is a public document. The mile markers are sequentially numbered only on the longest routes of each day. Also see on the Route page how you can use the Google map to route to a mile marker, rest stop, gas, etc. I know the SAGS will use it when they need to hotshot somewhere. You can also use it to see how long and best route to take from your starting point to your assignment. KD5UMO

Feedback or After-Action Reports?

Friends, Now that we've all caught back up on our sleep, many of us probably have feedback we want to offer or reports we'd like to submit while our memories are still fresh. Is there any plan to collect volunteer feedback or AARs for this event? Tony

Day2 RS1
KB5SQG (Robert Fitzpatrick) and I are at RS1 on Day 2 (other) Robert, what gear do you have? I went to D2-RS1 earlier today, and wasn't able to hit either the 147.020 or 147.240 repeaters. Gear was a 5W HT driving a 1/8 wave mag mount, hand held Yagi beam, and a J-Pole antenna on a 10' pole (didn't have a mount to raise the Yagi). I looked at elevation profile in Google Earth and Chalk Mountain (where I was told 147.020 is) is 17.6 miles away. Chalk mountain is considerably higher than RS1, but RS1 does appear to be in a local hole and there is a 127' hill about halfway between RS1 and Chalk Mountain (488' above RS1) Maybe 5W just isn't enough to make it? Maybe a taller antenna is needed? Robert Eden N5GWY
