Synopsis: Chazal chose the Book of Yonah for the Haftara of Mincha on Yom Kippur. This lecture elaborates the messages of the Book of Yonah and its choice as the Haftara. In the shiur we analyze the superb structure of its four chapters and present selected commentaries on several pesukim. Intertextual connections to other books from the Tanach and the historical background of Nineveh, the famous city of Assyria, shed a new light on the story of Yonah and relevant messages to our times.
