[d-star] Fwd: New Kenwood D-STAR Tri-Band HT Announced at Atlanta area Hamfest This Weekend
3
If this is true it would be a huge deal- we would then have a de facto digital standard. The ARRL jumped on the CODEC2 bandwagon years ago and has been basically fighting DSTAR as proprietary and single vendor and now we have several competing standards. One needs to "win" -warts and all. The nightmare scenario is if Kenwood were to come out with yet another standard. The tiny pot of money for our industry, such as it is, goes to the user radio market not the repeater market. A guess is the market share of premium priced FM radios have gone way down vs the low end knock offs. Yaesu has done a truly remarkable job of marketing System Fusion but the engineering has just not caught up. Erik, NY9D www.14567.org

Fw: [d-rats_group] Public Ratflector now available
On Mon, Nov 2, 2015 at 8:40 PM, wb4qdx@... [d-rats_group] wrote: As many have noted, the original public Ratflectors, ref.d-rats.com:9000 and ref.d-rats.com:9001 are no longer available. In an effort to make a public, open ratflector available for use, a new ratflector is now available at drats.ratflector.com:9000. This Ratflector is hosted in a commercial datacenter for reliability and sufficient bandwidth. Please feel free to use this Ratflector as a worldwide meeting place for D-RATS users. Many have noted the ratflector.com domain is available to make an easy address for any ratflector. A list of Ratflectors that are listed with ratflector.com is available at http://www.dstarinfo.com/drats.aspx. If you would like your Ratflector listed with a ratflector.com address, send an email to info@... with it's current address. Thanks to Ed, WA4YIH, for creating and maintaining the ratflector.com domain and to the Georgia D-STAR group for the hosting of the new Ratflector. There will be other positive announcements concerning D-RATS in the next few weeks so stay tuned to this group. John WB4QDX

Fw: [DVDongle] DVTool 2.1 for DV3K Dongle available
From:"aa4rc@... [DVDongle]" Date:Sat, May 23, 2015 at 1:48 PM Subject:[DVDongle] DVTool 2.1 for DV3K Dongle available DVTool version 2.1 is now available for the DV3K Dongle. You can go to http://www.dv3kdongle.com and click on the Installation tab for instructions for downloading/installing for Windows or Mac. The Linux version should follow shortly. This version will also work with the DV Dongle. The only changes between 2.0 and 2.1 are for DV3K Dongle support so upgrading is not necessary for DV Dongle users. The reflectors are running new code that supports the new DV3K Dongle. Dplus with DV3K support for the gateways should be released this weekend and it will then be up to the gateway admins to install the new version which is required for DV3K support. 73, Robin AA4RC http://www.dv3kdongle.com View on www.dv3kdongle.com Preview by Yahoo

Fw: [DVDongle] Welcome Dayton DV3K Dongle owners!
From:"aa4rc@... [DVDongle]" Date:Thu, May 21, 2015 at 9:50 AM Subject:[DVDongle] Welcome Dayton DV3K Dongle owners! We announced the new DV3K Dongle at the D-STAR forum at Dayton on Friday. The software wasn't quite ready to go yet but several folks wanted to take the new hardware back with them oversees so we let HRO start selling on Saturday. We are still working out the remaining issues with the new DVTool 2.1 which should be released in the next day or two. In the mean time, you can download the latest version of WinDV and select "Thumb DV" as the device since the new DV3K Dongle is similar in architecture. I'll announce the availability of 2.1 here shortly. Take a look at the new device at http://www.dv3kdongle.com http://www.dv3kdongle.com View on www.dv3kdongle.com Preview by Yahoo Thanks! 73, Robin AA4RC
