Re: 23cm Duplexer?
I once retuned a 800 MHz TX/RX duplexer to 23cm by removing the tuning plunger and cutting off the outer fingers.
Then I used a fine hacksaw to cut new fingers and reinstalling the inner plunger. Finally I recut all the interconnecting cables to the correct frequency. I did not modify the loop on the small tuning device but there are places to learn about that. Using a Rigol spectrum analyzer the pass and notch bands tuned perfectly. The loss was 3 db or half the power. Note: I have no real technical knowledge about this, just like to experiment and wasn’t afraid to ruin a cheap duplexer I brought off eBay if it didn’t work out. Re: 23cm Duplexer?
I have tuned up several 400 MHz duplexers on 1290 MHz. No mods, just tuning. Start my tuning up the duplexer in the 400 MHz band. Say your output is 1290 MHz? ? Tune up one side of cavities on 430 MHz? ?1/3rd. Then the same for the other cavities Now tune them up at the 1290 MHz frequencies. The 3rd harmonic resonance is not exactly 3X of the fundamental, but it is close. Tuning at 1290 has the probability of tuning on many of the spur frequencies. Re: Icom ID-1 Adjustment Software?
Hi Ken
I have adjusted frequency on an IC-2820H and ID-5100 that also drifted low in frequency after more than 10 years of aging. The method used for those is found in each radio service manual downloaded from your favorite source. The same cable connects to the ID-1 and the PTT function works as for the IC-2820H and ID-5100. PTT has to be pushed while setting the frequency otherwise it is not savable. One connection with a 22k ohm resister between 8-pin mic socket 2-7 is not used on the ID-1 and only on the IC-2820H and ID-5100. With reference to the IC-2820H and ID-5100 service manuals several buttons are pushed simultaneously and in the case of the ID-5100 the SQL controls are set to precise positions in order to allow the adjustment mode to be available. So I'm thinking that there might be a hardware solution yet. If I push a few buttons while standing on my head the ID-1 might allow me adjustment access. I was thinking of writing to Icom USA or Australia for help as Icom Japan just replied today (via the New Zealand agent) that sorry but they no longer have that Adjustment Software. How did Icom service these rigs or did they never need service? There are thousands on them in service. They were produced between 2004 and approximately 2016 being replaced by the IC-9700 or possibly the IC-9100 before IC-9700 release. I'll experiment over the next few days and see how I get on with my cable jig connected. 73 and good DV, John ZL2TWS |
Re: Icom ID-1 Adjustment Software?
I am interested in this too.? I imagine it is a relatively common issue with an old radio.
Last year I contacted someone in the US who works on ICOM stuff - without success. They had no such software. I wonder if there is a hardware solution?? Working inside that radio would be tough though ... Thanks Ken KE2N |
Icom ID-1 Adjustment Software?
Hi,
An amateur colleague has an Icom -ID-1 23 cm FM/DSTAR transceiver and has discovered that it is off frequency and needs adjustment. The way to do the adjustment like the frequency is to use the Icom ID-1 Adjustment Software. Now this radio has been out of production for some time, and the software is probably on a CD-ROM somewhere - does anyone have this software? The local Icom agent in New Zealand doesn't have it and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the Internet - including Icom Japan's web site. I am not sure if this was ever paid software but this is the only was to make this adjustment and probably many others with this type of radio, e.g. all the adjustments are done via the software. I realise that this is a long shot, but appreciate anyone who knows or has this software. Thanks? Mark ZL2UFI |

Re: RP4010V with ID-RP3 - No ID
Ron, I've never tried this, but there is an ID Output setting that applies "While Repeater is Stand-by" in the Analog Repeater section.? Maybe that would do the self-triggered ID that you're looking for.? But I don't see anything that tells me you could stop the IDing by transmitting in either mode.? You'll have to play with the settings to see what they actually do. Pat and I are doing well, although I'm recovering from knee surgery and she's waiting for a broken shoulder bone to heal.? Nothing out of the ordinary for us, it seems.? I've been monitoring the repeaters, but I haven't been too active because I've been in recovery mode.? Now that I've passed the eighth week, I on the air again.? Call when you have a chance. 73 Brad? KV5V On Wed, Nov 22, 2023 at 6:45?PM Ron N5ECG <n5ecg@...> wrote:

Re: RP4010V with ID-RP3 - No ID
Ron, We haven't experienced this issue, but I remembered that there is a setup item in the Analog Repeater menu which allows you to configure the ID Output.? I just checked the KE5RCS setup by running the computer at the repeater site and then using ID-RP3 to access the configuration of the repeater. The Analog Repeater menu has an ID Output menu, and this must be set to ON.? Then you select CW output.? The Call Sign is entered in the Repeater Call Sign menu in the Common menu.? Did you do your setup this way? 73, Brad? KV5V On Wed, Nov 22, 2023 at 1:14?PM Ron N5ECG <n5ecg@...> wrote: Just purchased an ID- RP4010V with the ID-RP3 software.?
