DD vs Repeater

To answer the question George posed, the DD mode RP-2D ?is ideal for high speed data.? Think about it as a data satellite.? In our area, some of the best commercial real estate sites have river views- so are low lying.? A DD mode ¡°RP-2D¡± allows users or databases there to get out across the whole area.? You can use the ¡°RP-2D¡± as a bent pipe ¨C one to one- or if you put a server behind the repeater, everybody can use it.? So a use case for us is a command truck at ground level needs to reach Red Cross HQ at ground level and the State EOC also at ground level.? A single DD mode module can handle this with ease.? All three sites can access a common application (Citadel, missing persons, D-Rats, etc.).??? We take this one step further and put the databases remote from the repeater site.? So a repeater module is the next thing you want to buy after your first ID-1. ?Also an ID-1 makes a perfectly good voice radio on the gateway.? While armchair experts will debate this, we see similar range on 1.2 DV and 440 FM.? ??One of our folks evaluated the NMO antenna mounting system on 1.2G and said he was not seeing a good match on his test equipment.?
